Ladybird Tales My Once Upon a Time Library 24 Books Collection Box Set Hardcover

I learned to read myself with this collection of traditional fairy tales and fables, have since used them to teach my daughters and am currently using them to teach my granddaughter, who loves them. For this purpose I recommend them above all others.Some reviews comment on the modernized illustrations, but at their best these complement the stories very well. It may be also, as suggested elsewhere, that the retellings themselves have been edited, but I could not identify where. Certainly there is no evidence of the annoying and unnecessary tendencies of other publishers to make them 'edgy' and 'international' for the 'modern' child, with the outcome of making them inappropriately knowing and on occasion plain creepy. No, these are pure gold and timeless and come with the highest recommendations.

Bought these as realised hadn’t introduced my wee ones to the classics. From my recollection a few elements in some of the stories have changed but the essence is all there and my wee one loves them and that’s whT counts

I bought these for my grandchildren for Christmas. They are a wonderful resource for parents in relation to developing language in children . Nothing like the repetitive nature of these Classic Tales and children get to sit with an adult while they read them together.

My granddaughter has loved these books. They were well presented in the book storage box and are beautifully illustrated. She brings a book to my home when staying overnight and I have been slightly disappointed as the fairy tales have changed a bit from my memory in fact most of them are a little "dark ". I thought scary but my granddaughter doesn't seem to mind.

Wow these books came a lot earlier than predicted which was great for me because I couldn’t wait to share them with my grand bairns. They were also bigger than I thought they would be and came in a lovely sturdy gift box . Worth the money . I would definitely recommend them
