This is one of those basic office items that doesn’t seem exciting, but a good one really does make a difference. I got this for my desk at home and it’s been great for everyday stuff like sealing envelopes, taping labels, wrapping small gifts, and quick paper fixes. The weighted base is the main reason I like it so much. It stays put when I pull the tape, so I can use it one-handed without the whole thing sliding around. The blade cuts cleanly, and the tape comes off smoothly without bunching up or sticking back onto itself all the time. I also like the shape and silver/black look because it feels a little nicer than the cheap clear plastic dispensers. It’s simple, sturdy, and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Not much else to say really. For a desk dispenser, this is one of those small purchases that ends up being used every single day.

Getting ready for Christmas in my home, means wrapping. Wrapping means tape. And, after getting a few rolls this week, I went looking for my tape dispenser since my handheld one was too small for the rolls I got (the Scotch brand ½ - 1296 inch ones). But, I’d lost the “hub” (black center piece that holds the roll). Having an Amazon gift card balance, I opted to first look for the hubs. Couldn’t find them (and didn’t want to shell out too much money). Instead, I found this tape dispenser (at the time less than $5 with tax). And, it had a BONUS – attached tape hub. My mother (now retired) used to order office supplies at the hospital where she worked. After some of her co-workers kept throwing the hubs away or losing them – she decided to order some tape dispensers with attached hubs – much like this one. And, she was quite pleased with them – as that stopped a lot of “losses”. With Prime shipping, I decided to order it. Glad I did! I’m absolutely thrilled with this. It’s small, fits on a crowded desk and works! Bonuses: * Has enough sand to weight it down, but not so much I can’t hold it in my hand * It fits my roll! Silly me, I did get the ½ inch tape (1296 in) rather than the ¾, but it still works (both tape and dispenser) * Ease of use. This thing is easy to use! And, I’ve had a LOT of different tape dispensers over the decades. * The attached hub! LOVE it. After inserting the roll, my mother decided to look at the dispenser and loved it! She also provided a helpful hint with this – MAKE SURE THE HUB IS SNAPPED INTO PLACE. You should hear the SNAP when you push it down. Otherwise, the roll is going to bounce up and down (maybe even fall off) every time you use it. This is slim and actually snazzy looking, especially for the price I paid. I’ve put it to use in prepping for Christmas and haven’t been disappointed. If I am – I’ve got the 30 day return window. And, no – in most cases, the tape NEVER comes with a dispenser. If it is part of a package deal; then most likely. But, even on this box it clearly indicates that tape is not included. It’s shown with tape so the customer can see how it looks and how to gauge it for their personal use. If anyone bought it as a package deal - tape and dispenser, and didn't get either one - that is more of a customer service issue than product issue. I'd immediately contact the seller for a refund and/or replacement. If that doesn't work - contact Amazon. I’m pretty pleased, and if this remains at a low price – I might get a few more after the holidays.

I can't believe the VERY low price for this item. It is really sturdy, stylish, and I've never seen the tape loading mechanism it has. Super find.

I'm not a fan of this type. Instead of a one inch center you insert into the tape roll and put both into the dispenser, this one raises up. The problem is that it keeps rising up when you pull the tape every time. I taped it down so it doesnt do that, it's annoying. Other than that it's just great.
