A Great Water Heater Dispenser With Solid Energy Saving Features
I've used a stand alone electric water heater and dispenser for years. This style is a lot more economical than installing an instahot tap and much more convenient than using a brew kettle. This heater from Tiger has a 3 Liter capacity, it's a little taller an thinner than the one I have from Zojirushi but it's also a lot quieter and seems to keep the water warmer without having to re-heat or re-boil.This electric water boiler has 4 temperature options, the standard 3 (208, 194 and 176) which generally correspond to Black, Green, and White tea temps. In addition there's a third mode called VE which shuts off the boiler after 2 hours, letting the vacuum tank retain the heat. Tiger is really good with their vacuum technology, something that really impressed me when I reviewed their Tiger MMY-A048-XC Stainless Steel Vacuum Insulated Travel Mug, 16-Ounce, Silver. Although this VE Mode worked well, I found that keeping it on 208 worked great and it rarely seemed to need to re-heat.Like all these hot pots, this one from TIger allows you to set a delay, so it won't boil overnight. Again it's a nice feature, but I rarely use it. I generally fill this puppy up and then forget about it. The indicator level is backed in read which makes it a little easier to see.Build quality is solid, the lid is detachable so there's a little more play compared to non-detachable models, but the seal is perfect and so there aren't any issues. The dispensing is MUCH more quiet than my Zojirushi, it's night and day. There was an initial plastic aroma from the water on the first couple of batches (as noted in the other review), but this isn't uncommon and after boiling a few batches of water, and then letting it sit full overnight, that aroma dissipated and in a blind test with our Zojirushi, we couldn't tell the difference.Tiger may not have the name recognition that Zojirushi has in the US, but the products I've tried of theirs have been solid. This water heater is no exception. It does the job well, with energy saving features that couple with a vacuum chamber to let you get the most hot water for the least amount of long term investment.Tiger supplied me with a sample for review, but it did not impact my review or rating.

It has better insulation than my old Zojirushi
It works great, better insulation than my old Zojirushi, run more efficiency with less energy to keep the temperature. Water dispenser is also better with smoother water disposal.

slanted water level pipe
Received today. Haven't tested all the functions yet. The red water level pipe is slightly but discernably slanted (It is obvious when you look at which ends of the two thinner black lines stick out). It is not up to the quality expected from this brand.

Excellent purchase: very satisfied!
Absolutely love this machine. This replaced a eight year old Zojirushi. Some people mentioned a "plastic" aftertaste during first few uses. We just ran hot water with lemon juice (reconstituted) through it three times and then started using it. Took about one hour total to do three cycles. After that, no aftertaste of any sort.We set it at 194F. Heats up quickly and very quietly. You can barely hear it boiling the water. The temperature is just right for tea and coffee. The VE feature reduces energy use and cycling of heating cycle. We drink a lot of tea so we refill every other day or so. No issues. Once a month I add lemon juice to a full tank, let it sit over night and drain it in the morning. Then refill it and use it, no lemon aftertaste, no adverse effect on the tea and it should help to keep any calcification at bay. Again, recommend highly.

Rusted after 1 months of use
The electric water heater works really well, however it became rusted after a little more than a month of use. Not recommended.

This product is perfect. Love it
I've been wanting one of these for a long time. I was worried about the plastic smell that others posted in the review. I ran the boil cycle a couple of times using vinegar and then some lemon juice. Plastic smell never materialized. This product is perfect. Love it. Wife was ticked about giving up some counter space, now it's her favorite kitchen item. Coffee and Tea is now a 5 second affair and no longer interrupts my work cycle like when I used the microwave. Oatmeal is a no brainer. Soup in 1/3 the time as the water is already at 208 degrees! I use a high volume in-sink reverse osmosis system (free drinking water dot com) so I don't expect any scale, ever! It was a great self birthday present. One I should have got 5 or 10 years earlier. Can't go wrong with this unit. More expensive ones only have stainless steel or a slightly higher wattage main heating element. Don't waste your money on a 'higher end' Tiger. This Vacuum insulated model is perfect on all levels.

Super swivel feature is way cool, and the water gets hot and stays hot without making any noise. Recommended!
My group loves this hot water dispenser! The only catch is that you have to learn that you have to unlock it to dispense (a safety feature, I'm sure). And be warned: hot is hot! 187 degrees will really burn your tongue! Easy to use. Easy to empty and fill. Cool swivel feature. Plenty of water for a group of 10 to 12. It does take a bit to heat up. It's not like an instant hot water kettle. But it's just a terrific little addition that makes our meeting really swell!

You need one
It works great so far. The setting is super easy and does the job. It looks great and does not take a big space. I will keep posted to see how durable it will be. Now it is about 6 weeks.
