Great story done exceptionally well
I really enjoyed this dramatization of one of the earlier Shadow pulp adventures. All of the actors did a great job, and unlike some other similar products of other pulp heroes the narrator stayed on point throughout and didn't become annoying with his voice inflections. The fact that so many people were involved made this feel like a Graphic Audio production so you could easily tell the characters apart. This was really who the Shadow was. Unlike his old-time radio persona who barely ever touched anyone and never fired a gun, this pulp version was straightforward to see justice done and the villains punished--permanently. The story may seem very familiar to fans of Batman because a LOT of story elements were borrowed from it for an early Batman story. Some parts of it were lifted completely, and if you look at the original Batman comic you can easily see where the Shadow had a big role in his creation. It was a fast-paced story and I hope they continue on with many more Shadow pulp adventures!

Something that no fan of The Shadow or pulp heros should pass up!
I am currently listening to the audio adaptation of The Shadow, Partners of Peril and am having a blast. The novel would have worked fine with a single reader but the full cast and sound effects make it a 'movie for the mind". If nothing else, for old time Shadow fans, to actually hear the line, "Burbank speaking." should alone be worth the price of admission. I am looking forward to more Shadow audios from this production company and would truly love to hear them tackle the original Doc Savage and Avenger novels. It is a great time to be a fan of pulp fiction!

A Glimpse at the Pulp Era Vigilante Crime Novels
‘Who knows what evil lurks in the minds of men?’ Is one of the most famous superhero quotes of all time, right up there with, ‘With great power comes great responsibility.’ The Shadow is the man who knows about evil and this shoot-em-up dramatization of an original pulp story has all the fun in it of an early Spider or Batman. The bad guys are really bad and the Shadow has to be faster and deadlier not just to triumph but to survive. The plots of individual Shadow books never stick very strongly with me. I read them for the breathless action and the glimpse back into the pulp era of vigilante crime novels. In this audio version, you get a full cast and sound effects to evoke the old radio dramas that all featured this hero.

Good...but no laugh for audio
Classic Shadow Pulp novel. Good atmosphere and mystery. It's what to expect from Grant. Always a pleasure to get back into the novels that made The Shadow the lore built up.The audio version is nice to have different voices as it feels more like the old time radio show. But how can you not have the guy who voices The Shadow not do a haunting laugh?!?!?! Final Grade - A-

Give It a listen.
Listened to this on a long drive. Really good narration and dramatization. It is a novel in audio form, not one of the radio shows. I kept visualizing it as a movie. Recommended highly.
