This backing is affordable, does the job and comes in neat colors. That checks all the boxes so far as I'm concerned. Granted, I say this as somebody for whom the backing rarely leaves my reel very often, which I think is likely the case for most fly anglers. Thus, I can't directly speak to its performance under high intensity situations with monster fish peeling into the backing. That said, I still can't see this line not performing admirably even under those circumstances.

As a first time fly fisherman I am testing the waters. The price was right. I have not yet put the rod reel and line together.

This backing is smooth, thin and nice. I loaded a full hundred meters of 30lb backing on my 7wt reel, then my double taper fly line, and it all fit perfectly. Couldn't be more happy.

Good quality,, great price but...I was fooled that the 3 spools were not connected which now requires an additional nail knot for more backing than 100 yes.
