An excellent blend of fact and fiction
This is a very powerfully written story that uses real people to tell the story of the founding of Western Australia and supplements with a couple of fictional characters, the Andrews family, the Blairs and Yeddi's aborigine family. Anyone who has an interest in WA or lives there will want to try this book. By bringing names from history books to life, you start to get a very real sense of the canny Sir James Stirling and the bumbling Thomas Peel. One of my own ancestors gets several mentions which adds a nice personal touch although he's not central to the story. I found the historical content to be well researched and nicely blended with the fictional aspect.
