I'll Be There Hardcover – Picture Book, March 22, 2011

This is such a wonderful book - I've purchased about 18 for baby gifts!

Kids eagerly await the day they can do many things on their own, without the help of Mom and Dad. Still, getting older and becoming more independent can be a little scary. A mother and young son reminisce on all the things his mom once did for him that he can now do himself. The little boy, proud of all that he can now do by himself, still wants to ensure his mom will always be there, "Will you still take care of me when I'm big?" While encouraging her son's independence, she assures him, "...I'll be there."I loved the way this book depicted through illustrations and words the little boy growing up, from a baby through early elementary school years. I love that this book has a simple story line without skimping on text! It's sweet, easy to follow, and yet still intriguing! The way the mother describes to her son just how she used to help him take baths and read him bedtime stories such warmed my heart as a mom. Not only will kids love this book, but Mom will as well!Though my baby is young - and much younger than the recommended age for this book, which is 3-7, we have read this book four times in the past two weeks, and she has attended to the pictures and the story being read. (I should mention that this cannot be said for every book we read.) And I think she will appreciate this book when she is older and can do some of the things this little boy can now do!I would recommend this book!
