I recommend this for all parents to be
I recommend this for all parents to be. I read the poem many years ago and I have always remembered the words "children learn what they live" and believe them to be true. The book expands on this poem and is a great tool in establishing love, mutual respect, and trust. Setting a good example is all I want to do when my little one arrives and this book has great tips for establishing that.

A parent's friend
For my son and daughter in law who live far away and have a 11 month old precious girl . I remember from 18 months and up how the young can push your buttons so to speak and all things positive can never hurt. I received the poem when my children were young and it kept reminding me how to keep my cool an instill good character. Nothing like taking a five minute breather to have the written word to guide you in a harassing day. Good books are friends... a Christmas gift for them

Love the Poem - Great Book to Accompany
"Children Learn What They Live" has been my favorite poem since I was a child. I came across this book years ago and have since made it the book I give to everyone I know who is expecting a child. The author makes some wonderful points about raising children, using the lines of the poem as the chapter headings. It is a must read, for parent and non-parent alike.

Its wonderful!
How could anyone ever fault this book?! It's one of the most important and relevant poems relating to how we raise our children I think anyone has ever produced. Timeless, relevant to any adult from any class, culture, religion, race or front door colour. It's simply genius in its illustration of the obvious - Children learn what they live. Of course they do! So why do the majority of us forget this from time to time?! A must have for all parents to be able to refresh themselves when the going gets tough. I believe every parent should be give a lamenated copy of this poem in the birthing room! All parents need to be gently reminded sometimes of the importance of how we raise our children and impact on their future. The perfect parent doesn't exist but this could act as the perfect aide memoire!

Children Learn What They Live.
Just right for helping parents. language and explanations easy to understand. This has stood the test of time. i had the poster on my wall at home 40 years ago. It is such a good aid for parents and professionals. Always part of my professional toolbox.Development does not change, just attitudes. thanks.

So true.
Great book for helping parents help their little ones. Examples of situations that might arise and what we can do to help our children rather than unintentionally causing them problems. We can all benefit from this book.

Grteat!
Loved the poem that I came across when training for my childcare qualification years ago. The book is a great way to really explore what each line means.
