Make Your Own Old-Fashioned Cloth Doll and Her Wardrobe: With Full-Size Patterns

It seems that the clothing patterns do not fit. The doll pattern works well, but anything that needs to go over head, like a blouse or top, does not fit over the head!!! The patterns for clothing are if-y. The sun bonnet fit well and the skirt fit well, but the tops - anything going on the top, needs to somehow button or something as those neck holes do not work for the head...so it is disappointing re the clothing. Also, many of the patterns have vague instructions that make no sense so you end up winging it at times...sad cuz the doll is cool, but the patterns for clothing leave a lot to be desired.

Another Exellent book for making "old fashioned" dolls! These dolls have painted faces, and the auther takes you every step of the way, from applying & sanding the Gesso primer, to how to mix the paint colors and apply. I guess if you aren't into that, you could embroider the features with just as good result. Clothing patterns are very nice, with good instruction for many variations. This doll looks just like the ones that would have belonged to a very lucky girl from long ago. it is a book that I always come back to for instruction and inspiration!

I wanted something that would teach me to make a doll and clothes for that doll. This book does that and more. Not only does it have full sized patterns with instructions for making a doll. It also has full size patterns and instructions for making MANY outfits. Everything from night clothes to a coat and suit. Plus it has beautiful pictures through out so you can get an idea of what the finished product should look like. Just a doll of a book.

This is a beautiful book with beautiful dolls and great clothes patterns. It's a great gift to give a little girl her own doll with its own wardrobe. You could do the doll to look like the little girl and the dresses in her favorite colors. There is even a prarie wedding dress. The only thing that I didn't like was the suggestion to varnish the head, neck and hands to make the dolls look antique. This would make the dolls faces hard. I would prefer to leave the dolls natural, or if you really want to antique them, use a gel stain or tea dye to get the same effect without the stiffness.

Love the book to make dolls!!!

I am using this book to make a Christmas doll. I finished painting the doll. I will start making the dress and bonnet this weekend. Book is easy to understand I am pleased with the outcome so far.

I was very disappointed, the most important thing was the doll pattern,which should have been enclosed, well not enclosed!

This is a great book with excellent instructions the cloths are wonderful I am downsizing the patterns to fit smaller dolls and mice I make and dress. This book is far better than I expected I highlyu recommend it to anyone who loves making rag dolls.

Not sure I will be bothered to make the actual doll, but the clothes are nice- fairly easy to adapt to use with other dolls. Will definitely be a useful addition to my craft library.
