I bought these for my sons after they fell in love with a book that features a kendama (Dodsworth in Tokyo by Tim Egan, highly recommend it). They love them, even my husband and I love trying to get the ball on the spear or in the cup! It's tricky and takes practice which is fun. They're also nicely made and seem sturdy. If you're buying them for younger kids, you should know that it's a *solid* wooden ball and almost has the heft of a pool ball on a string. My sons are 6 and 3 and as I was opening the package I had a moment of "whhaat was I thinking with this." We've had a couple near misses of people getting hit with swinging kendama balls, but now we mostly use them outside and it's better. Anyway, great toy, would suggest it for ages 8 or 9 and up though! Even some adults would probably love it!

Got these as stocking stuffers for two adults and they were immediately obsessed with them! The colours are beautiful and vibrant and the simplicity of the challenge makes it addictive! I’ve loved gifting kendamas and these are great value!

This is a hard toy to explain how to play with, but I found it in a store in Hawaii, while watching other kids play with it, and they explained it to me. Very challenging and obsessive once you get going! My grandkids love it also. You have to throw the ball and try to get it back to you to land in the cup. I think there are YouTube videos that show you how to play.

I had to return my order, as my grandson is too young for the product and I was afraid he would hurt himself. It was smaller than I expected, but was beautifully made and I liked them very much. I look forward to purchasing g again onceMy grandson is a little older
