Best Vertical Mouse
This is the most comfortable vertical mouse I have tried. It holds your hand the most sideways, which is very important for eliminating lateral wrist motion. I tried a cheaper vertical mouse and returned it before coming back to Evoluent, man it was not even close. You don't have to twist your arm, pinch your fingers, make any weird motions, your hand just sits there. Compared to other mice this one is like AHH so natural. I LOVE having 3 finger buttons, being able to use middle click for opening links or pasting (usually the mouse wheel click on a normal mouse). Mouse wheel can also scroll horizontally while holding down one of the thumb buttons. I never knew I needed these two features in a mouse but I now use them constantly. The Evoluent software (Windows only?) allows you to remap the buttons for many additional functions. One change from the older model Vertical Mouse 4 I do not necessarily like is they have made the 3rd mouse button smaller. This is the button you press with your ring finger, whereas on the previous model it was pressed with your ring and pinky finger, definitely easier. I cannot comment on the battery life, this is my first wireless version and it has not run out yet. It takes 1 AA battery.Pros:Most comfortable vertical mouse available (this is #1)Lots of additional functions for common activities.Contoured finger buttons feel nice.Includes battery (!!) and extension cord for the wireless receiver (I have not needed to use it so far)Looks cool (better than in the picture), feels more premium compared to old model, more on par with mice at this price point.Cons:ExpensiveMouse button 3 harder to press than the Vertical Mouse 4 now that you can't use two fingers.

Wrist or Elbow Pain is Eliminated...Better Than VM4
For years, I used a wired mouse with weights I could add or remove to adjust feel. It was fine but too heavy and inaccurate.I then moved to a Logitech MX Master 2 wireless, which was outstanding in every way...except ergonomically it was horrible. The muscles on the outside of my elbow began hurting. I knew I needed a new mouse.I initially settled on the Logitech MX vertical. However, after more research, I found the angle of the Logitech when holding it to be 57 degrees, not 90.The key to reducing pain was to keep your hand, while using the mouse, in a natural handshake position with your thumb on top and pinky finger on bottom. The only mouse that does this was the Evoluent brand. They have several models, but their most popular appears to be the the VM4.Their newest model, the one I'm reviewing, is the VMD. They also have a "C" version. All models come in small, medium and large. Medium hands are considered to have less than 7.8 inches from tip of middle finger to the crease in your wrist. On their website. they have a template you can print to size up your hand.My hand measured 7.75 inches.I started with the VM4R medium size wired model and used this for several days. The pain was immediately reduced and almost eliminated entirely. This mouse does work for those in pain.I also ordered their newest variant in large size - the VMDLW model. This model was wireless.I ordered large because at 7.75, I was borderline between the M and L and wanted to compare it to the medium VM4.Vertical mice take some time in which to acclimate yourself. You will be frustrated at first, but quickly get used to how it feels.Precision is the hardest thing to master, but it does come. The Evoluent software can customize each button on the mouse, but I kept mine simple. The difference between the 4 and the D was:the D had a higher quality build;wireless was less clutter and allowed for better precision movement of the mouse;the tips of the buttons have carve-outs that help keep your fingers in place;and the scroll wheel was smoother.I am glad I went with the D version and the large size. This helps me hold the mouse better.Overall, Evoluent has a really good, quality ergonomic mouse that worked for me.Update:Comments about the "glossy" finish in some reviews I have read. True, this mouse is not rubberized. However, I have no issue maintaining control and my hand does not get sweaty at all. Maybe if you sweat heavily, the gloss feel may not appeal.UPDATE - Oct 17, 2020Still give this mouse a 5-star. Love it. NO WRIST PAIN. Glossy surface not an issue at all. Still on original battery and I use it 50 hours per week.

It's slick
Very nice, and very comfortable mouse, but it's too slick. The surface of the mouse is a polished-finish plastic, and the mouse slides out of my hand when working with it. The geometry of the mouse doesn't allow for it to be gripped without it sliding out of your hand. So every time I repositioned it on the mouse pad, it would start to slip from my hand. I ended up putting friction tape over the locations where my finger rest, and I'm now able to hold it.The software from Evoluent is also great, and allows almost everything on the mouse to be customized. They were also very thoughtful to include a USB extension cable, to bring the receiver closer to your the work surface. Very nice. And it comes in multiple sizes, so the large is almost big enough to fit my hand.Change the geometry of the thumb groove and make it with a non-slip surface, please. Then it would be perfect. But it's still the best vertical mouse available, and it's somehow cheaper than the Logitech.

For AutoCAD (drafting primarily) - I have Medium (Size 9 gloves) hands and love the Large Size Fit.
My wife had an old Size Small Evoluent 4 mouse I had used for a few years, she got it through an Ergonomic assesment...I started having forearm (carple tunnel) pain flare up. The vertical mouse fixed that...however a small drawback was that my pinky/bottom side of my hand would get sore by the end of the day.The buttons finally crapped out on that old mouse so I finally replaced it with this one (Evoluent VMDL 'D' ) in a Size LARGE!!! For AutoCAD (drafting primarily)...btw I have Men's medium hands (Size 9 gloves) and love the Large Size Fit...not sure why I waited so long to get the right size...worth the ~$150 CAD I paid. Would Buy Again...and love the Chrome look over the old Blue-ish/Purple. My pinky/side of hand pain/numbness is completely gone...would recommend to all who mouse all-day producing DWGs and etc... Evoluent should make a size XL for men with even larger hands!

The most comfortable mouse ever
This mouse provides the most comfortable position of you wrist and fingers. Quality and materials are also very good. The buttons can be programmed with the 3rd party software called USB Overdrive. The electronic part of the mouse could have been a bit better as precision is not the best in the industry. But, I am not drawing so it is not that critical for me. You can work for hours and have no any unpleasant sensations in your hand

The very best ergonomic mouse I have ever used
In terms of comfort and its ergonomic shape this is by far the best mouse I have ever used. My hands are big, but I ordered the medium model, which turned out to be almost insanely comfortable. I lucked out by ordering an open box item, which saved me a cool $70, not bad at all. And it was delivered in two days! Even with no discount this mouse is totally worth it, especially if you really want to avoid wrist and arm pains. The only caveat, and a major one, is software. My main workstation is a Mac. In order to take full advantage of the buttons you need the driver. Sadly, Apple has not yet provided the maker with the necessary driver development kit for MacOS 10.15 or newer. Earlier versions of the driver are not compatible with MacOS 10.15 or 11. This makes life more complicated because without the driver the buttons default to the developer setup, which I find weird: for instance, the wheel does not work like the standard wheel, but as a Forward button, and the right button works like the standard wheel! This is, apparently, more convenient - not for me though. I want the wheel to be the wheel, and the right button to be the right button. As well, although the thumb buttons are extremely conveniently placed, the lower one does nothing without the driver! I repeat: if you use a Mac these settings are impossible to change without the appropriately coded driver software. Luckily, the manufacturer provides a link to third party universal driver, namely USB Overdrive, which enables you to change the settings. Sadly, USB Overdrive is not as intuitive as one would wish for. It took me a while to figure it out and set up the buttons the way I like it. Additionally, USB Overdrive takes over almost every non-Apple keyboard and makes it impossible to use without deleting everything, that appears below 'Z Axis down' under the Settings tab, 'Any Mouse, Any Application' option. If you venture to use this universal driver, you will immediately know what I am talking about. I trust Windows users will not have these problems; I have not yet checked the mouse on my Windows machine, but the driver for Windows 10 is available from the manufacturer and I believe it should work under Windows 11. Other than that this mouse is awesome, simply amazing. Over the years I have tried many ergonomic mice and none made me as happy as this one. If you are a Mac user and not afraid to try USB Overdrive (hopefully the manufacturer will finally offer drivers for MacOS 11 and 12), then you will be a very happy camper. IMHO this is the best ergonomic mouse on the market, period.

Tolle ergonomische Maus, empfehlenswert
Volle Empfehlung.
