Easily teaches kid favorites
Got this for my cousin for Christmas. Even though it arrived late, it was totally worth the wait. Her ukulele teacher came over later that day and in the past week she's learned 5 of her favorite songs!

Not Compatible with Kindle
The book itself is great. I'm a camp counselor and want to play songs for my kids that they actually like. This collection of songs is perfect for them. I've seen other negative reviews mention that there are only lyrics and chords, but that's the format of most ukulele music. You can search for books with tab or strumming patterns included if you prefer that instead. My main issue is that the Kindle version isn't compatible with my kindle (for reference, I have a kindle oasis). I found out after I already purchased it and couldn't even open the book. I can still view it using the kindle app on my phone, but I'd prefer a larger screen.

For kids?! Don't think so!
It has a variety of material and does include simple 3 chord songs; it is advisable to begin with 2/3 chord songs and lots of them to gain strumming control. It proceeds, however to multiple chord songs verging on the ridiculous for 'kids' e.g. 'Remember Me', page 54, is a joke! Nowhere does it suggest or display strumming patterns e.g. rhythms. It hasn't accounted for the fact that many of these songs will have been written on guitar or keyboard, e.g. on guitar, the F chord can be problematic for beginners so often, Fma7 is used instead. The compilers of the book have not realised this and and listed the Fma7 chord which is more awkward on the ukelele than a straightforward F chord. Re keyboard-based songs: the tendency to change chords more frequently especially in 'show tunes/musicals' for dramatic purposes does not lend itself to 'easy' playing for 'kids'.Its educational value is minimal. It depends entirely on familiarity with the songs chosen. Kids may be familiar with and like these songs however may not be able to achieve the technical/physical demands of the chord changes due natural physical development dependent on age. It all depends on one's definition of a 'kid' and kids these days start about age seven; try telling a pre-pubescent that he/she is a 'kid' and you will be greeted with a strop of the highest order!Maureen McGarry-O'Hanlon BMusHons.
