It’s a book
Same stuff as last edition. Required for a class.

5th grade reading level book. It is embarrassing that somebody paid to write this book.
Complete waste of time. This book doesn’t come close to explaining what the job requirements are for an asst. or FC are. Do not but or use for a promotional exam. Complete embarrassment.

Tired.
I believe the biggest challenge to fire service personnel when it comes to leadership and management development in the fire service comes from “authors” who write books on these topics. These books have become very good at taking simple concepts and muddying the water so much that you cannot possibly learn efficiently or effectively. I chose those last words because they constantly talk about being “efficient and effective” and then turn around and publish material that is anything but. Seriously, if you want a book that has steps, within steps, within steps, within steps, then this is your book. I will give you my own example of how this book would “teach” you how to flush a toilet. It would go like this…- Flushing the toilet is a four step process - you clean yourself, stand up and position yourself, operate the handle, and put down the cover. In step two - standing and positioning yourself is a five step process - you get a solid stance, push through your feet to the standing position, turn your body to face the toilet, make a slight bend in your legs, and then brace your core for the flush. In step five - bracing your core - is a six step process - tighten your upper and lower abdominal muscles, engage your obliques, ensure your back is in a neutral position….All the while your mind is screaming - IT’S JUST FLUSHING A D&$M TOILET!!!!! Seriously, I wish these books would spontaneously combust!!

One of the worst books that I have ever been forced to read.
Simple procedures are made complicated by adding useless steps. Repetitive, boring and hard to stay interested in the material.
