Cheap but quality capture device, let down by complicated software
First of all I have to say that I actually returned this item. The reason for this was mainly the terrible software that comes with it. Don't let that put you off if you are looking for a cheap and good quality capture device though as there must be better software available out there that works with it. The build quality is pretty good, made of aluminium I think and it does a good job despite it's price. It will capture 1080p video but only at 30fps, which wasn't good enough for my needs. My needs were fairly basic so I had 1 HDMI cable to HDMI IN, 1 HDMI cable from HDMI out to my monitor, USB 3 cable from USB to my laptop and the DC5V cable plugged into my laptop also to power the device. After a LOT of messing about with settings in the software I located the source input (shouldn't have been this hard) and started to record. It DOES pick up the audio from the input source through HDMI in case anybody was wondering. Upon playback on another PC connected to a much larger screen I could really notice the 30fps. The majority of the footage was fine but it really showed up in faster moving scenes like running water, etc. The audio was perfectly adequate though. So all in all if you want a cheap capture device, can live with 30fps and either live with overly complicated or find an alternative software for it then this will definitely suffice. :)

Require a modest GFX card to work
I bought this for use with a laptop. I figured as it featured an external 5 volt input that it wouldn't draw power from the usb port and thus work better. I then discovered in the supplied manual that you must have Nvidia GT630 , Nvidia GT735 or better. This means it would work on a deskstop with a decent gfx card, or decent laptop with a built in gfx chip. On my laptop with its HD4000 chip the sound stuttered and the frame rate was down. In fact the dongle styled capture cards which i already had, worked a lot better than this device. So yeah only purchase if you have a decent gfx. The manual also recommends OBS or potplayer software.Update: This works a lot better on the same i7 3rd gen laptop now that I’ve upgraded from win 8 to win 10, meaning the issue could be down to the version of Directx supported by the OS.

Good capture card excellent value!
Really good capture card especially for the price, gives a nice clean 1080p 60fps signal, no complaints really. I have posted a full review with gameplay and camera samples on youtube here: shorturl.at/pJV08 and here: shorturl.at/hvJM4

Absolute bargain!
I spent a long time looking for decent USB -> HDMI inputs and there are some pretty heftily priced ones out there. After some time I found this, I had my reservations ordering something that was significantly cheaper than previous alternatives. I was not disappointed, we use these for live streaming broadcasts around the world. It plugs in, is recognised straight away and also brings the sound in through HDMI. Other makes often don't which means bringing a separate audio feed and correction of the sync. TNot with this device. Straight in, perfect every time.

Poor bit-rate, poor picture.
So the resolution might be 1080p but the bit-rate is awful. Looking at the UVC (USB video cam) standard which this uses, it could quite happily handle more than it outputs - even though I'm connecting using USB-3 - but there's no way to change it. Plus, the colours are muted and the picture is soft. It's £50 or there abouts, I guess that's what you get at this price point. Not recommended.

Early review but works straight out of the box
It works, just leaving a quick review and rating it for the job I needed it to do. Plugged a camcorder in to use as a webcam with OBS and it just works. I can't see much issue with quality but I don't really know what I am looking fopr in that department. I will update if I find issue. If this review isn't updated take it as a great budget solution for using a camera with HDMI output as a webcam.
