I bought this unbalanced regulator as a replacement for the one that came with a 2-Liter tank (ChickaDiv, SMAKO, etc). Their regulator requires excessive inhalation force to begin the airflow, which is not acceptable. This Palantic regulator is a great replacement, making breathing much easier even at its maximum depth of 10m. Being an Octopus for emergencies, the air flow is set so that free flow is less sensitive; Although it is non-adjustable, a PROFESSIONAL could fine-tune the airflow to be used as a main regulator by finely adjusting the internal nut the vane. Overall, it is a great second stage for recreational shallow diving (10meters), very good engineering, and made with quality materials. Very happy with this purchase.

I have been using this at work, I'm under water working on boats at least 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. I've been using this reg for the past 6 months steadily, and it is working great. The only little thing is that if you're tank is over 3000, it will chatter a little until the pressure drops a bit. I don't know why that is since the 1st stage should drop the pressure to the same thing no matter what the tank pressure is, so it may actually be a problem with the 1st stage. So considering you can't get an expensive reg rebuilt for this low of a price, and I have put at least 600 hours on one in 6 months with no problems, I would say it is definitely a good, dependable second stage regulator. And when it finally does break, I will definitely buy another one.

I have a smaco 1 liter scuba tank and the regulator that came with the tank was very high resistance (like drinking a milkshake through a straw). This palantic regulator is much better and you dont have to inhale hard at all to get a nice full breath of air. I highly recommend this regulator to anybody who bought some smaco scuba gear.

It's not bad, for the price, for a secondary but it has chatter in it when inhaling other than that it serves its purpose

Use this octopus 2nd stage exclusively for teaching. Breathes easy despite being unbalanced. Recommend.

Deffienetly a massive upgrade from the stock smaco regulator ! This one is easy to draw air from and would Deffienetly recommend. Dont know how long it will last but good so far

Works excellent, good quality, mouthpiece fits good. I changed the spring in it to run a lower air pressure (60psi) I have roughly 12hrs on it with my surface air supply setup without any troubles. Easy to purge and breathe through.
