Another great read from Hiatt
In the `Employee's Survival Guide to Change' the author gives us insight into how we can adapt and be successful in dealing with the evolution of business otherwise known as change. Dealing with change is a process and Hiatt helps us understand that with a very simple structured model called `ADKAR'. The process requires that you digest one step at a time to be prepared for the next. Before you can react you need to be aware. Once you are aware you need to be motivated, which means you have to have the desire to act. Now that you know you need to act and you have incentive to do so you need to know what to do....that is knowledge. At this point you may think you are ready to act but another step is required which is ability....can you do it? The last step in the process is re-enforcement. You need to keep repeating the message so that the team does not forget the mission. Simply put: ADKAR is Awareness, Desire, Knowledge, Ability and Re-enforcement. Now go read and learn....

Could have done without the full page cartoons on every other page that had no relevance to the content of the book. But then the book would be only half the size. Buy this book used.

For those who have never considered surviving change in a manageable way
Exactly as the title suggests. Breaks down all the elements of change for those who have never considered surviving change in a manageable way. This book is easy to read, and can be read in intervals as time allows, even so it does not take long to read. Out department is going through a big transition so I shared this book with my Director and she bought one for everyone on the leadership team (12 people) and a bunch more for the staff to borrow or keep if so desired. She got great feedback from everyone.
