When I was a kid in junior high, Paul Anka was right up there with Elvis. He seemed to knock out hit after hit. Because he wrote most of his hits, these songs, and especially the lyrics, were exactly what we kids were feeling and experiencing. Musically they were great tunes and great for dancing at the parties we would have.These tracks were probably taken from LPs, and for the most part the quality is quite good considering they were probably not from the original source. However, what makes this set so good is that with the fist note of Diana, these tunes take me back to that time period where your greatest problem was how much pomade to use on your pompadour and whether or not Betty Lou would go to the dance with you.These tunes are all from 1957 to 1962, the best years for Paul's recordings. NONE of these tracks were taken from the RCA re-recordings that he made after leaving ABC Records....these are ALL THE ORIGINAL ABC RECORDS TRACKS.

For any lover of mid-50's to mid 60's pop and early rock this is a must have. It includes original versions of some of Mr. Anka's biggest hits. A few (Love Land and Adam & Eve) are difficult to locate in a form not a re-record. No collection is complete without this CD.

Great cd

This is a fine collection of Paul Anka's songs, some who have reached the Top Ten and Top Twenty, but many of these songs who appeared on his album did not reach the top 40. Although it states that these are "50 Original Recordings," I am not so sure. The price of this DVD collection is a great value and most Paul Anka fans will surely like this one.

out standing cd My only problem Is that when I put the cd in my computer to rip it My computer doesn't recognize it and show it as a completely different Paul Anka album.

This two CD release has all the original Paul Anka hits between /57 and /62.However these are not released from original masters but from original records,which is the going thing these day,skirting around proprietary laws.For this modest price, for this amount of material,what can one expect?As a result there a few tracks which have sound problems such as "Story of My Love" and "It's Time to Cry" which sound like they were recorded in a tunnel,and "Teen Commandments" and "I Remember" which have distortion problems;especially the latter, which as it opens one can hear the record scratches along with the distortion.This is all part of game when you try and use records as your source.They have to be pristine and even then there is no guarantee.That's the bad news.The good news is the rest of the tracks sound pretty decent,and many in their original stereo form.I will never stop asking why the big labels that own this material don't release them,instead of having to rely on companies like this who do it on the cheap,but do it because they know there is a market and a buck to be made by doing so? The big boys and some of the artists complain about them doing this,but what can they expect? Put up or shut up.All in all,for the price,and considering that generally speaking most of the music here sounds quite good,I think this is a winner for those like myself,that have been searching long and hard for the originals. 3 1/2-4 stars.

So this was another order I made recently for my family member, and my god the package used to transport this was just disgusting, a bit of cardboard was the only thing keeping it safe during it's travels, might as well just sent it in an envelope, give you 3 stars cause it's a good album.

Bonjour,super content de cet achat qui correspond à ce que je cherchais sur Paul Anka : je cherchais une représentation globale de cet artiste.Il y a deux cd et donc énormément de titre à un prix défiant toute concurrence (j'ai acheté ce cd à 5.34 euros).Je pense avoir fait une bonne affaire à la vue de la qualité du contenu des compilations. Ce n'est pas toujours le cas même lorsqu'il y a de la quantité.En ce qui concerne l'audio rip et pour répondre à l'un des commentaires, tous les albums vendus ne sont pas éligibles à l'audio rip (création d'un espace, téléchargement en mp3). donc je pense que soit cet album n'est pas éligible tout simplement soit il y a un problème technique avec la plateforme amazone.Ceci dit, amazone doit répondre à cet internaute.slts : E.
