RYOBI40-Volt Lithium-Ion 6 Ah High Capacity Battery OP40601

I thought I was buying the best battery, but am really disappointed that it will not charge anymore. 3 out of the 4 batteries I have bought for my Ryobi 40 volt lawn tools now do not work. Ryobi made the system way to complicated and the fixes people recommend have not worked.

Really don't know yet about the longevity. It does last longer than the 5 hour battery, which does last longer than the 4 hour battery, which does last longer than the 3 hour battery. (Not sure that one lasts longer than the initial 2.6 hour battery.) I use these in the lawn mower and the expander system (for which I have a weed eater, an edger, a chain saw, a garden tiller, and a blower). While something like the 6 hour battery lasts only about 1.25 hours in mowing the lawn, I can then put in the 5 hour battery an finish a second yard's lawn. Typically the 2.6 and 3 hour batteries together allow me to use the weed eater around the two properties. We haven't run out of power when using the tiller (as our two gardens are less than 300 sq. ft. each). I have two chargers, and I am pleased to get a lot of yard work completed in 6-8 physical hours now with all of the tools and batteries.

My original 5ah battery had been getting weaker, no longer finishing my entire lawn. I ordered this to make sure that I had enough power to not have to stop and recharge to finish. This new battery does the job. I use the old battery as a backup in case the new one doesn't last, but that hasn't happened yet. So far, it works well. Since it is new, I can't say how long it will last. I hope it will be as long as the old one (8 years)

What I disliked is how little they last for. And I don't just mean over-all battery life, but how over time they lose their performance power. And some last far more than others. So, basically a hit & miss on what you get.And NO! I didn't find the higher rated longer lasting batteries worth the extra money even if they worked.Yes! They did tend to have a longer sustained power output, but not to justify the added cost in my opinion.With that said my Ryobi products in general perform outstandingly well. We have multiple Ryobi products from screw guns, weed whackers, edger's, to the blowers. They last long enough to be worth the cost.That means for me if my whatever Ryobi products lasts over 5 years, then it was worth buying.Anything longer than 5 years and it becomes a testament to their quality and value.Why buy them? Because they are easy and convenient to use for getting things done!I've read lots of the reviews and complaints about the batteries and other Ryobi products and I can't disagree with them in general. Let's face it, lots of products these days have their flaws in manufacturing and design.And of course we aren't ignorant to designed flaws and engineered life. That's just the way of the world now.What I will say it that in general the batteries and products are still worth the costs.

I purchased a Ryobi self propelled battery powered mower used about 2 months ago. It came with 2 5 amp batteries. I would have to use both to finish my lawn. After about 3 months one of the batteries would not charge. I researched batteries and found the best deal on 6amp batteries on Amazon. Even though the product had mixed reviews I decided to order it because I have had very good luck with Amazon. The battery came in 7 days. I immediately put it on charge and when fully charged I started mowing my lawn. I was very impressed that I could do the entire lawn with the new battery. Even though I went from 5 to 6 amp the new battery fit the charger and mower perfectly. The key is going to be how it holds up. I will update my review after more uses.

I would have loved this product IF it had been a genuine Ryobi as Ryobi is a reliable brand.

Works very well

Using on the Ryobi 14" chainsaw. upgraded Chainsaw with an 18" chain and bar cut 12 to 14 inch trunks to 18" long for over 3 hrs and is still showing 2 bars. Awsome

I have batteries that came with the tools I bought. My lawnmower would often die while cutting the lawn. The 6 amp battery allowed me to cut lawn and still has plenty of power to cut it again. My lawn is on small side so your experience may be different.

Very $$$$….I hope it lasts….ryobi products are all very good…..but batteries are typically 4 out of 10 for lasting very long.

This battery is for a new electric lawnmower. I like the fact that we can mow the entire property without having to recharge it. We haven't had it long enough to know how durable it will be, but, so far it's good
