Arrived on time, which is consistent with all Amazon Prime orders. This glue has a longer set up time than PVC and does not swell the mortises and tenons. These two characteristics are highly desirable when doing complex glue ups. Hide glue is also much easier to clean up - just a cloth moistened with water - another desirable trait, as long as your project is not exposed to a damp environment.This was my first time using hide glue and I found no need to slather it on, I just "painted" it on the mortises and tenons with a small brush, also this stuff is less drippy than PVC, it clings to the pieces and generates less mess. Joints went together smoothly - hide glue is more slippery than PVC too. Hide glue might be fine for other applications but regular PVC is still cheaper for big panel glue ups where time is not an issue, water resiliency is important, or squeeze out is not an issue.

Good glue to use if you may not be able to remove all excess when building with brown stained wood.

cant get it at home supply stores any longer. this is good stuff for acoustic instruments. comes apart with steam/heat. Not fun to work with but way easier than melt pot glue.

This is a slow-set glue ... useful when glueing up large projects with many joints. gives plenty of time to assemble the project before glue begins to set. Also if a part does not fit exactly right can loosen up the joint by spraying with water. You wouldn't want to use this for all your projects or for outdoor use ... but comes in handy when gluing up a large box with dove tail or box joints.Now concerning the shipper ... the glue was placed in fold top plastic bag and shipped in a padded envelope. Probably due to a heavy weight on top of the envelope some of the glue squeezed out and saturated the entire contents of the package with glue. What a mess!

Love this glue! The working time and tack time are very good. I was worried that the "reversible" quality would be a problem. But after have to actually reverse a joint, I realized how strong the glue is. I had to reverse a 20" edge glue, and using about a gallon of water, a pry bar, and hot iron applied to a damp rag, it took nearly 1.5 hours to get the pieces apart. The reversible bond will definitely not fall apart with everyday use.

I bought this 2-pack of hide glue after researching the different types of glues which would be best for a veneer project I was working on.After having great final results of the veneer, I’ll be using the extra for an antique set of dining chairs that I’m refinishing. I’ve still got plenty of the glue left (Titebond recommends storing in refrigerator), which should be more than enough to do those chairs.Very easy to work with, really strong hold, and yet completely reversible with just a little water (got a chance to test out that last part).Will definitely order this product again once I need more.
