True story of Jordan Belfort's life of running a penny stock boiler room on Wall Street. Review: Will be mentioned among Scorsese's best. - Terrence Winter adapted Belfort's novel with a clear vision in mind-- making the film a companion piece to Goodfellas. In a way it is, but in a way it is something completely different. This is Scorsese's funniest film, and the funniest film of 2013. It has the wackiness of Scorsese's (massively underrated) After Hours, on a much larger scale, and the remorseless characters from other Scorsese films such as Goodfellas and The Departed. As a huge fan of Scorsese, I'd put this somewhere near the bottom of his top ten films (which is big for me). I also have to mention, this is Leonardo DiCaprio's best performance ever. He goes off the rails and gives a performance unlike anything that I've seen from him in the last 20 years. He also shows that he's a naturally gifted comedic actor, providing some of the funniest moments I've ever seen on a screen. The rest of the cast is fantastic as well, most notably Matthew McConaughey in an incredible 10 minutes. Jonah Hill further proves his acting chops, and showed great chemistry again with another mega-movie-star after his turn in Moneyball. Another thing I feel the need to mention, this film might not be for everyone. It's full of drugs, nudity, and foul language. It pushes the limits of an R-rating and doesn't look back. And another thing, it's 3 hours long. The length is no problem to me, and I think that the film flew by, but I've heard some people complain about it. Calling a film too long is the laziest criticism in the book in my opinion. Would you rather enjoy a very good movie for 2 hours, or 3 hours? I'll end my rant there, and tell you to go see The Wolf of Wall Street in theaters, buy the DVD, rent it, just find any way to watch it. The mere fact that the legendary Martin Scorsese, in 2013, at the age of 71 (!) can make a film like this is incredible, and it cannot be missed. Review: Fun tickets!!! - Pretty fun movie, for a reasonably accurate true story. And full frontal on a young Margo Robbie.HELLO!!!!

DiCaprio just keeps getting better.
Well! Many aspects to comment on in this movie. I wasn't sure what to expect and I admit, if this is really how wild it is in some circles of the Wall street crowd, it's a wonder they can function. But, yes, as many have stated, the acting is superb in this movie. The subject matter stung a lot for me, being one of the people sucked into buying penny stocks in the 90's thanks to reading glowing reports about the future of several fledgling companies, and not selling out in a timely manner and as a result loosing it all. What stung even more was the statement in the movie that a 50% commission is made by the seller. No idea if that is accurate, but I suspect it is. This film shows the seedy, ugly underbelly of some Wall Street people. And for that, I think it gets an A+.I wouldn't call this a comedy per say, but there are certainly funny parts throughout the movie. But to just call it a comedy is selling the whole story short. It's much more than that. So to all those who gave it one star, come on, every movie can't be for the children or all proper language and no vulgarity. That just isn't how life is, especially relating to this particular subject matter. And not a movie for a wife to watch???? I'm the wife and I selected the movie and my husband was blown away by the movie as much as I was. I like movies about Wall Street, it is simply a fascinating subject to me. Leonardo DiCaprio has done nothing but improve over the years. He is doing in this movie what he does best, and that is an explosive personality part, capable of great extremes of emotion, and a great wit and intellect. Bravo!

This movie could save you $$$$---if you have a thick skin and an open mind!
A scary, funny, outrageous cautionary tale done very, very well. If you're easily offended, don't see this movie or buy it; but, it could save some rich, Bible thumping prig beaucoup money--- think Bernie Madoff!

Honest and necessarily graphic
This not a film for children or teenagers. The main character is a greedy, ambivalent degenerate and this is his story told unflinchingly. If you want a film where the jerks and banksters of the world get their comeuppance this isn't it. This is the story of how it really goes down more often than not. It is also the story of how dangerous it is for the morally weak among us to be placed in positions of authority and how readily people in our society place them there because we want to get a ride on the gravy train. This story reminded me that the honest among us rarely get rich or rewarded and it's the characters just like this guy and his sycophants who do. People should watch this film because it may help them stop lying to themselves about how dishonest a lot of people are and how willing people are to be taken for a ride in the hopes of getting something for the price of setting aside their good sense. The main character took advantage of people by preying on their weaknesses but the people who he robbed made it easy by abandoning their judgement hoping for a few sheckles from heaven or "wherever".... This is a film for all the people who choose the personable, nice to be around, lying, incompetent types over the hardworking, honest ones who don't tell you what you want to hear. There is no difference between you and Mr. Belfort.... This film is your mirror and your wake up call....

Amazing film, not the best 4k but I still love it!
It's not as good as my Once Upon a Time in America 4K, but it's still worth owning! It looks good, but I'm not really that blown away, but this is one of my favorite movies so I'm happy to own it and play it so beautifully :)
