New Balance Women's W1540 V3 Running Shoe

It became painfully obvious that the shoe size I had ordered for years was no longer working. After an online search, I found that the New Balance website has the best foot measurement charts for men, women and children - including WIDTH measurements - that can be downloaded and printed. I discovered I needed an 8 XX-wide shoe. Unfortunately many shoe manufacturers don’t offer Wide or X-Wide widths (let alone XX-Wide), but New Balance does in several styles.I ordered 3 pair, the #1540 V3 (Version 3), #877 V1 and #577 V1. Only the first two fit perfectly. They both have a SL-2 last (narrow heel, deep toe box and wide forefoot). The 577 was too tight across the top and will be returned. I’ve worn the others and they’re so-o-o comfortable. In fact, I’ve ordered second pairs of both.Thanks to the measurement charts I also discovered that if 8 XX-Wide wasn’t available, I could go up a size to 8-1/2 X-Wide for the correct width. It only adds a hardly noticeable additional 1/4” space at the toes. A second option was buying the same styles in Men’s size, but from what I’ve read, men’s shoes are wider at the heel.New Balance seems to have great reviews for most of their styles. The main complaint I find across several styles with mesh is that some develop “toe holes” at the big toes. Mine are still brand new, so I can’t verify that. Right now I’m able to be on my feet all day in comfort. This shoe purchase(s) has been a learning experience, and I’m extremely happy with the outcome. A dozen pair of my old shoes are already out the door and my feet are not missing them.

These shoes fit from the word go. The best pair of new balance I have ever owned. I have bought NB for the past 27 years. It is my go to shoe. My fave was the 1122’s and the slip on 811(they need to make them again. Their new slip ons are awful). I bought these shoes two days before a Disney trip. I walked 12 miles a day with no issues except for the shoestrings. They constantly come loose (not undone but loose) and I mean constantly. I need to find a new pair of shoestrings. I don’t know if they are too slick or what. I cannot find the length of their shoestrings anywhere so I have to wait. I love the try before you buy as there isn’t a new balance store near me and my models are no longer made. I bought another pair of NB at the same time as these but tried them on and immediately had rubbing by the big toe. I returned those. Hope this helps you. Oh. If you wear orthotics you will need them for this shoe. It is not as supportive as the 1122’s. Enjoy!

Good shoe for overpronation.

These are well made and very study. Very stable and great support to prevent ankle rolling. But they are not a running shoe. Too heavy, too inflexible. Hot too. Not breathable. I'll keep them for tennis and HIIT training but I bought them to having a running shoe I could use for hyrox. They didn't even make it through one run. I came home and had to check and see if Amazon shipped me the wrong shoe. Disappointing for the price and normally I have had a good experience with New Balance.

Most comfortable shoes for wide feet.

The shoe itself is very well made and is very stable, but for me personally, I need a higher Arch, and more flexibility. They do run a little large, in my opinion. They're a great shoe for someone that really needs a rigid and stable shoe. Nice wide toe box also, and great looking shoe. I wish I could have used them.

These are very comfortable and give great support. I love this aspect of them. My knee and back pain went away while wearing these.My complaint---- if there is moisture on the ground, I can't wear them. The soles slide out from under me. Trying to walk in them on wet pavement or gravel-surfaced sidewalks that are set in cement, let alone accidentally stepping on the white or yellow paint on the roads/crosswalks that are wet leave me feeling like my feet are going to fly out from under me.

They are light weight, comfortable and are narrow enough! Will purchase again!

This fit is perfect! I have plantar fasciitis and i read about these shoes. I highly recommend them
