Easy swap
I've had this Briggs mower 6 years now, my brother gave it to me because it "didn't work". I cleaned the carb and it worked fine, but I had to do this often, and it surged a lot. It smoked a lot too. Eventually it would take stay running once it warmed up. Bought this carb as a last ditch effort and I wish I got it much sooner. Runs flawlessly now. At your own risk: Try to do this on an empty tank. Remove the top cover/rip cord. Pull the air filter cover and filter. Use pliers to pinch the ring on the fuel line by the carb and work it to the center of the fuel line. Lift the gas tank up carefully, tip it back, then pull the fuel line from the carb. Now remove the screws holding the plastic plate to the carb. You may have one link or two, I had two. One goes to near the back of the motor and the other goes to the exhaust. I removed the one going to the exhaust and stored it. Now pull the carb, then wiggle it to free up the other link. Push the linkage onto the new carb, slide it into place and reverse all that you've done. 10-15 minutes and you'll be good as new.

Exactly what I needed. Easy install. Very pleased
Well…I read all the negative reviews. Had me worried. But I am ordering the OEM carb so how bad could it be? Had bad needle valving in my old carb. Ordered it. Installed it in next to no time. Exactly the same as my old one. The biggest negative complaint I read about was that this new carb didn’t come with its own choke lever. So? You pop the one off the old carb and pop it on the new one. Hook up your linkage first; make sure the O ring is seated in place and wedge carb on the manifold; re-attach the fuel line; re-assemble air filter housing, and you’re done. Allow the carb bowl to fill with gas then fire it up. Easy peasy I mow commercially and my mower now runs like a bat-out-of-h…

Works well
This is an original manufacturer carb and installs easily. This was for a pressure washer that the owner left old fuel in for the winter and it would not start. The engine would run of you pored a little fuel into the old carb or sprayed a little starting fluid into it which indicates that the engine was not getting fuel,. Removing the old carb showed that both the needle valve and the main jet were completely plugged and since just about all of this carb is made out of plastic and with the cost of parts compared to a new unit, it was not worth rebuilding. The part came on time and installed in a few minutes. Like many other reviewers have said, is missing the choke pull off lever. They did include a large o ring that I didn't need so I really don't understand why they couldn't include that as well. Fortunately, after having read these reviews, I made sure that I could remove the one from the existing carb which I did prior to ordering. After installing it, the engine started on the first pull and all is back to normal. The reason that it only gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because they couldn't be bothered to include a low cost part and make you either reuse an old one or pay way to much to order one separately. You can tell if you need it by looking at the linkage going to the carb. If it only has one rod going to the throttle then you are fine but if it has a second one going to the choke, then you will need this part. You can remove it from the original carb by pulling it straight up and it does require a bit of force. Do not twist it or you may break it and it just snaps down on a post on the new carb and again, requires a bit of force and you will hear it snap into place. Make sure to press it straight down or you may break either it or the post on the carb.

Spend a few more bucks and get a carburetor that is perfect right out of the box like this one!
I just don't know how resuscitation of a mower that hasn't run in four or five years can get any better than this. Other than making a few pops on squirts of starter fluid this motor showed no other signs of life with the original carburetor. The tiny little jets are set at impossible angles to get carburetor Jet drills into. Therefore I made the decision to put a new carburetor on and was so glad that I did. After the installation and allowing an hour or so for the carburetor to fully saturate itself with fresh gasoline I only intended to just tap the starter button to make sure the battery was hot and the motor started! Although it had not run in almost five years this motor idled perfectly from the very beginning, revved up strong and I don't believe it could run any better than it does right now. I have not had to adjust anything or do another thing to this motor except put the air cleaner on and cut grass. This carburetor cost more than the knockoffs but, in my opinion, it is worth every penny (and I have been doing things just like this to dozens and dozens of small engines for 66 years). It comes in a Briggs and Stratton factory looking box. Whatever it is it seems perfectly ready to go right out of the box with no further effort on your part except to put some gas in the tank and start the booger up. It's not likely my nap in between putting the gas in and starting it had much effect in all this. But that's how I did it because I'm 79 years old and I can!

Easy fix
My sister has a nice old Lawn Boy mower with a Briggs and Stratton engine. She failed to drain the gas prior to winter storage for a number of years, and the carburetor clogged and the engine failed to start. She was planning to spend hundreds of dollars to needlessly replace the mower. This was the perfect replacement for the gummed up carb. Replaced the carburetor along with the air filter (also from Amazon), and the mower now starts on the first pull. Will probably never have to replace the carb again unless she forgets to run the gas out of mower at the end of the season. You will need a socket set and some basic mechanical skills to do this. I suggest you take some pictures with you phone before and during the removal process so you can refer to the photos if necessary during reassembly.

This is supposed to be exact replacement as my original Briggs and Stratton, 725exi is the motor, It's looks the same but it has a plastic auto choke butterfly not brass like the original. It started first go but, it didn't sound right, pops, loses power. I ended up thoroughly cleaning my original and it works perfectly again. I am Disappointed it would have been good to have this as quick swap out.

This solved my mower surging problem. The install was easy. The only difference between this oem part and the original carb on my mower was the butterfly. My original was metal and the new one is plastic or nylon. Mower started up immediately and runs smooth.
