Contemporary Class Piano

I am a "self taught" piano player. Unfortunately, I played by ear... with a lot of success (don't gets wrong... I can play very complicated pieces Billy Joel, Elton John... But if you were to place Mary had a little lamb.... I couldn't play it (couldn't have...) After "Alfreds's adult music lessons and you want something with a lot more meat to it (and you have self perseverance) move up to this book.

I'm a high school music teacher who was looking for a text to get more ideas for a piano class I teach. The book has some great ideas for ways to get students playing and understanding the piano quickly and relatively easily. I think the book works best for a college class as most of the concepts and lessons are a bit too advanced for your typical high school student. What's nice is that they have quite a bit of repertoire including duets and other ensemble pieces to give the students a chance to perform together (not something pianists get enough opportunities to do). What's also nice is that they have lessons on improvisation and composition, two activities that are often overlooked for music students. I would highly recommend the book to other educators looking for ideas to bolster their piano classes with.

I needed this book for a piano class at school and although i got it used, the content is still there. It helped me learn alot and it was what my teacher always used.

it's great quality and perfect for my piano class. It makes it seem so easy to learn to play the piano. The steps are easy to follow.
