Tight fitting, strong, and no defects
It's a simple, reliable part that I've purchased and installed twice; the first time to install a new replacement suspension fork on a 26" MTB; the second time to do the same on a 29er MTB. Without any previous experience I installed them to the exact depth via a Park Tool TNS-1 star-spangled nut setting tool. They set perfectly and have held up to the abuse of mountain biking despite the bikes being exposed to occasional rainfall.TIP: If your steerer tube was permanently attached to the fork by the fork manufacturer, then you've got a considerable investment that could become compromised or even ruined by misinstalling this part. Don't take a chance by being too cheap to purchase a dedicated tool for its precise insertion to the correct depth. You can always use the tool to upgrade or repair another of your own bikes, or those belonging to your riding friends.

Perfect Fit
Perfect fit on my 1 1/8" straight tube. No issues with the threads either. I strongly recommend buying the star nut installation tool or taking to your local bike shop. I was not able to tap star nut into the steerer tube myself.

I didn't need it
In the process of replacing the front fork of my mountain bike I needed to replace the headset. The image of the headset I bought did not show a star nut, and the description did not mention it. So in order to be able to install the new headset I ordered a new star nut to go with it. The new headset arrived and it came with a star nut. So I didn't need this one. I now have a spare. It looks identical to the one that came with the headset, so I can only give it a top rating. I may never use it, but it's nice to know it's there if I ever do. The price was so low and included the shipping that it was worth the peace of mind.

For my 10inch steerer tube
Perfect fit for my steerer tube. What can it do but what it supposed to do.. Perfect for the size whats on the discription. My steerer tube is 10inches long. 255mm long. O ya one more thing I went around to see how much this cost at my local bike shop while I was waiting for this one and the exact same nut color size everything, the cheapest one i found was for $13.99+tax. Bike shops around my city sell this exact type of nut starting from $13.99-$36.49 so wow big diffrence thanks amazon.com for selling this save so much money literly.

perfect.
It's a star nut, no surprises about it's fit or function. I even drive it down the steerer tube a second time when I made the final height adjustment to my bars. Only issue send that it had a very slight tilt to the threaded insert in relation to the star. Otherwise, perfect.

Great for repairing the frame of an old Weber grill
Used these in both ends of the bar at the bottom of the frame of an old Weber Silver grill - the original bolts had completely rusted out. Took a little MacGyvering to get them into the ends of the bar, but worked out great. Now, the grill frame is as sturdy and steady as ever.

Good quality
This star nut has more flanges than the average one and is more sturdy, replaced a 3-flanged one in my specialized epic that broke due to stress. Make sure you have the star nut installation tool though, or have friends at the bike shop to put it in for you. Good price as well.
