Genuine & Uplifting Perfect for Young Reluctant Readers
A sick kid book that was full of wit, humor, friendship, punk rock music, and middle school awkwardness. Wink is about 7th grader Ross who just wants to blend in. Survive middle school without much notice. But all of that changes when he is diagnosed with rare eye cancer.⠀While there are tough emotional moments in the story, the overall tone is light and fun. What I loved most is that you get to know Ross not as a sick kid but as a normal kid with hobbies, interests, emotions that just made him feel so real.⠀Wink is based on the author’s real life experience with having eye cancer. The author is also a comic artist and the book features Ross’s comic superhero called Batpig throughout the book. The comics are hilarious. This would be perfect for young reluctant readers.

Personal and genuine
A sweet book about a middle schooler dealing with friends, classmates, and cancer. Created from a place of personal knowledge of eye cancer, Harrell has written a heartfelt story. Highly recommended for middle schoolers and adults.

Amazing
Well developed story of heartbreaking tragedy and friendship, old and new. Perfect for the middle school/ junior high reluctant reader. The graphics add to the written humor. Life seen through the eyes of snarky young teens with the care and feeding of some incredibly compassionate adults.

Terrific!
I have two boys ages 12, and 14. We have been Rob Harrell fans for a looong time and we have been anxiously awaiting this book. Both kids LOVED it and keep talking about it. It was a great quarantine read!

Wink is such an amazing book with such a powerful message, I absolutely loved it. It is about a boy named Ross who is diagnosed with a rare form of eye cancer, and has to cope with all the struggles that come with it. Such an awesome read, I recommend this book to people over 10. So epic, I wish I could give it a million stars it's that good! Please read this book it is fascinating. I strongly disagree with the negative reviews, what is not to like about Wink? Great job Rob, keep up the good work! :)

I cannot recommend this book enough! I told my 11-year old about it and now he is speed reading it. A harrowing story built on real-life experiences written for children. Everyone should read this book, every school and library should have a copy!
