Believe it or not but my husband uses these for violin making. They are the perfect size for clamping the lining to the inside of the violin ribs. He has hundreds of these little guys and he loves them. He says he's never gotten the lining so perfect as when he used these.

These are a little weak but still do the job

I bought these for an automotive application. I wanted to pinch/close off a 3/8 diameter reinforced hose to troubleshoot an exhaust component but apparently under the tension of the hose and the heat, it warped a little. Just enough to let the hose open up again and let some flow back through. Otherwise, it certainly was easier to twist the knob to compress compared to the metal ones. If you have minimal heat requirements, then these would probably do. Not in my case though....which is sad. I kind of liked the design, corrosion resistance and weight.
