Barklimiter is life changing !!
Just purchased and placed on three of my most barky pups. This Garmin Tri-Tronics Sport Pro Dog, PRO 550 trainer with auto barker, "Barklimiter" is the best bark trainer !! And humane to our dogs ! hey seem fine wearing the collars and have had not false alarms. We had used Petrainer for a year with success, until a couple of our Bernese Mountains Dogs learned to override, ignore the anti-bark setting. I do like Petrainer, as a starter or as less sophisticated trainer for the less challenging pup. There was way to much unnecessary, nuisance barking by three of our five hounds... After research and a friend referring this bark-trainer collar, we spent the big bucks and also purchased the 2 additional collars. The setting for the no bark auto setting works perfectly, with no false stimulation (zaps). We place the collars on the pups at about 6 PM, as they get to play out back in the evening through the night. There was a lot of the problem barking, with some howling, accrued from their night/sleeping kennel dog house. Then I remove the collars during the day to give them a break. As the collars fit snug, I want to be sure there's some collar free time. I did change out the pins for the longer ones. Berners have two very thick furry coats. The assembly is a bit time consuming out of the box. You just need some quiet time to follow the through instructions in English, for me. Lots of parts and pieces. If you've installed a bark trainer before, I think it helps you understand where you're going in the assembly. The batteries have not had to be recharged yet. I assume they will last a while. As this trainer is very well engineered and well built with quality materials. Water resistant, haven't had that challenge with the collars. I trimmed the collars tails, plenty of length provided for the biggest pups. I've not switched back and forth using the remote to change setting, while the dogs are wearing the collars. I'm sure they will work well, too, as I tested the functions, when I placed the collars on the dogs. Maybe a bit cumbersome changing between the auto anti bark Continuous "Barklimiter" on, then off to use the Vibrate, Tone and light setting. I'm getting to know those settings. Then when you need to quickly reactivate the "Barklimiter". I'm still getting the hang of that. The first night, Boomer, my big male, somehow had the light on continuously in the backyard. He looked like a lit up Furry Christmas tree, until I figured out that I'd turned the light feature on. A great bright feature, if you need the night location of your pup. I do turn the collars off, when removed, to save the batteries. Then I get more practice learning how to use the remote, as it takes some practice to get the hang of operating it. The only downside is the pups don't bark at the deer coming in the yard or the UPS delivery guy. I promise you this bark trainer with "Barklimiter" will change you and your pups life for the better. An instant stress reducer ! First thing my husband said, when the "Barklimiter" worked, was YES !!

Durable, reliable collars and controller
Ive been using the garmin sport pro for years with my Chesapeake Bay retrievers and both the collars and the controller are competely waterproof and really take a beating. I never leave home without their collars in place. I had to buy this one because I lost the controller in the woods. The physical placement and size of the buttons make for easy use without having to look at the controller.

Completely changed everything with our dog
We have a rescue dog that the rescue people said was a Border Collie x Staffordshire Terrier. We got a DNA test and it turned out to be 40% Pitbull, 20% American Bulldog, then a mix of Rottweiller, Doberman, Dogue de Bordeaux, and Dogo Argentino. He is powerful and he is stubborn. We had a trainer who was entirely focused on only using positive reinforcement, this was ok in a low stimulus environment, but outside the house it wasn't working at all. We struggled using her methods for a long time and I felt frustrated and had started to dislike our dog. Eventually we got a different trainer who also used positive reinforcement but this one used e-collars as well so I ordered this Garmin. Now our stubborn dog, who had no recall, and would previously pretend he couldn't hear us, after using this collar just a few times, has dramatically changed his behavior and he's now much more like the good cooperative dog outside the house as he used to be inside. It has changed everything about how I feel about him and our family relationship with him. He still gets distracted sometimes and I give him a chance to remember to do what I say before I give him a little buzz, but I can now if I need to I can give him a little zap along with a command if he forgets himself, so I'm much more comfortable letting him play in places where I previously would have kept him on the lead because he was too unpredictable. If you have a stubborn dog then try this collar. But learn how to use it before you put it on your dog. Don't expect your dog to be able to do things it hasn't been trained to do. This is another tool that sometimes seems magical, but it's not magic and if you treat it like it is then you will just hurt your dog. Garmin have some quite good videos about using it, finding the correct level (essentially use the lowest level that has an effect). With such a powerful training tool you could do a lot of harm very quickly if you use it at the wrong time or use it at the wrong levels. Pick your moments, and know when not to use it as well. Also I suggest you try it on your own arm or leg so you understand how the effect ramps up, at level 1 I can barely feel it, level 2 it feels like someone lightly scratching my arm, but by level 6 it feels very painful.

Big and complicated is better
Complicated but has worked much better than the Sport Dog pro. The big improvement from the sport dog is a standard mini usb charger instead of some overpriced proprietary charger (that breaks very easily). The main downside is it is much more complicated. More possibilities, but you're going to need to train yourself to get all the modifiers right. The dog selector switch is a little too easy to change, but I say this as someone who does not need this feature. Would be nice to be able to turn it off somehow. The included bark mode was the reason I bought it, 2 for 1, works fine. Kind of wish the escalating zap could start higher. My dog completely ignores the lower settings when excited. The collar has gotten wet and been in the ocean. Not sure how effective it is in those conditions. The device has not been damaged. The light is a nice feature. Not very bright and doesnt really illuminate the ground much, but it is an indicator. On the plus side it is actually somewhat conservative in the "LEDs in your eyes shining like the sun to remove all darkness from the world" factor which I really appreciate. It is pretty big, collar and controller, that is the main upside of the sport dog pro.

Great collar and training system
This collar delivers on all promises. We go to a dog park daily and my 1 year old Golden Retriever was not always responding to me and was easily distracted (run to) other dogs and people. She would also pick up and chew things she shouldn't. The collar reinforces my commands to her, often just using tone or vibrate vs shock, which if used is typically set around 3 on a scale up to 10. Crazy part is, after a few months of use, just putting the collar on her causes her to behave better. She is an avid swimmer and there have been no issues from long periods in the water. Battery life is great. Hand controller is easy to use and the controls are easy to find by feel. There are good videos on Garmin's website on training that gave me a good baseline to start, then I incorporated the collar into our natural interactions, just my preference. The collar has allowed my dog and I to do more together while giving her a lot of freedom. The lights in the collar are kind of cool at night too!

Only thing that has decreased my huge dogsโ barking
I have Anatolian Shepards who are a giant dog breed with a booming bark they indiscriminately use for everything-falling leaves, squirrels, etc. They are canine Gran Torinos who yell at everything to get off their lawn. Their inability to determine appropriate things to bark at, and inappropriate things to bark at was driving me (and possibly my neighbors) crazy. I bought another bark collar which did very little for controlling their barking. I bought this collar when I was at my witโs end and was desperate for anything that would help control this. The first collar I got did not communicate with the handheld device so I returned it. The replacement worked, BUT the instructions are USELESS for anything besides starting a fire. The only way I know how to use this product is because I searched several YouTube videos that explained how to use it. I have seen that feedback many times before and cannot understand why Garmin has a very effective product they donโt bother to give clear instructions on how to use. Once I received YouTube guidance on how to setup the collar, I noticed a huge difference in barking. I ordered a second collar and with these in use, I can finally sleep at night. My dogs still bark at things that are worthy of barking, but they donโt nuisance bark at rustling leaves and other stupid sounds anymore. I think they appear to be happier and hopefully no longer feel like they need to prepare for war with every little sound. The drawbacks are the instructions, the price, and there should be a more efficient way to switch from bark control to manual control and know which setting youโre currently in. I have to recharge this about every three days.

Good training tool for your dog.
We use these for our two male German Shepherds. They respond well to the sound alert and we rarely have to shock them. If you teach them a verbal command and use this for reinforcement it works quite well.

The 3/4 mile range sold us
Our pup was trained by a professional using an e-collar but the one they used was much too sophisticated (and expensive) for our home needs. They suggested this model and it has worked beautifully during the transition from obedience school back to home. This model has a distance range of up to 3/4 mile which was important to us because we live in a rural area and want him to be able to run free, but also need him to return when called! We primarily use the tone and have only used the lowest level vibration a couple of times.

Great product
Works very well. My 10 month old puppy had a really hard time listening and now we can use the beep function and it helps her focus on us. Works at great range. She also will jump in the pond while wearing it and it is completely fine.

The third I bought and the best of all three
I like the collar. It does the job. I would buy it again. However, I wish I could speak to headquarters and tell them to put a strap on collar instead it the buckle one. We need to charge this thing every day and to unbuckle and buckle again and again can be a challenge especially with a crazy energetic dog like mine. The wiring of the charger is also outdated. If I could speak to them Iโd tell them to use C3 cable connectors like their competitors.

Great product
Absolutely solid buy. I did tons of research and having two large breed canines, I needed something with ease to have distance control while their noses were at work. Very awesome gear. Adjustable contacts for differing coat length was something I didnโt know I wanted till I had.

Excellent collar
Bought this collar to help teach my dog recall. She's a stubborn hound who is a rescue and didn't get trained recall as a puppy, so she catches a scent and takes off in the bush. The product is expensive, but I trust Garmin products and I didn't want to buy something cheap that would accidentally hurt my dog. Love the dial on the remote because I don't have to mess with buttons to set it to the level I need, and when you have a fast dog, that's a great time-saver. Levels 1-3 are a tickle, and 4-5 don't hurt, but are just a little jolt to get your attention. I tried level 6 on myself too and it doesn't hurt a lot, but it's definitely unpleasant and I won't be using past that level and really only will ever use it if my dog is in danger. We only used it on e because my dog ran off in the bush and was in the road. Stopped her in her tracks and she came running back though, so it works. For dogs that have thicker skin (or skulls) the higher levels would probably be useful. Also love the tone feature! She has learned that with the tone, it's time to come and I don't have to use the vibrate or shock on her at all anymore. It's also good in a bit of water if your dog accidentally falls in the water, but it isn't meant for swimming. Really impressed with this product! I'm glad I dished out the money for it.
