This is an excellent and readable book that covers all aspects of preparing for an emergency, whether nature based or man-made. The book is beautifully graphically designed by its publisher to make reading it fun. Nice to know that my wood stove can function as a stove in a pinch. One chapter offers guidance for dealing with challenging times. It wisely advises to avoid discussing terrible news at the dinner table. The book is also excellent for non-disaster advice on homemaking/food/shelter issues.

Kathy Harrison wrote a great book with photographic illustrations and handy ideas. I love how she thought of the details about unique family dynamics such as adoptive children or fostering in her emergency plans. I'm taking next steps to create an emergency binder for my home and will create more longterm food security for my family.

It's got a lot of good information and helpful pictures but a lot of the information is vague and more gives you starting points for where to start prepping. Which is really helpful for a beginner, but if you want more detailed plans on specific parts of prepping I'd suggest looking for a book on specifically that topic.

Being a visual oriented person, I needed a prepper book with easy to find visual info. Get exhausted of linear reading words all the time. Well laid out with honest input from the author.
