This is a dense bread, just like I had in Germany.
I buy this bread because I have a wheat intolerance. I have tried most of the different kinds. They are all good. I buy just the rye recipes. I only use them of toast or maybe to spread with peanut butter or quacamole. I really like the flavor of of all of them. They actually are better priced than gluten free breads and healthier for you. This is a dense bread more on the drier side. I always keep it wrapped and in the fridge. I have never found mold on it and have been using this for about a year now. There are seven slices in each pack and I cut them in half to make my toast, one slice is to long for the toaster. I slice = one serving.

Healthy and delicious bread
Best bread in the world. Delicious, whole grain, organic. You canโt go wrong with this bread. I order it by the six pack so I always have it. I freeze what I donโt immediately use.

As the Germans would say "super"
My girlfriend is German and when I went over there I was surprised that one of their favorite appreciative terms is "super". We don't use that back here in the United States very often but over in Germany it's a very common expression. Anyway, that's my opinion of this bread, It's super. I heed it in the microwave and put a little salt and olive oil on it and I love it just like that though I also warm it and have peanut butter and jam on it and use it for bread in general. It's whole grain and the nice thing about it is that when you run out of a regular bread it lasts forever especially in the refrigerator where I keep it and it's just a great backup I thought, but now, truly, I prefer it to almost any other bread it's just so scrumptious anyway yeah I'll stop raving about it but it's good stuff and very nutritious.

Tasty, healthy and affordable
Very healthy bread that toasts well in a pop-up toaster and pairs well with nut butters and guacamole. Buying it in quantity makes it affordable. Also very tasty. Enjoy.

Delicious!
I first tried this bread after I bought it from Big Lots where it would sell for $2.00 to $3.00 dollars. However, after trying several variations and getting used to eating it (and enjoying it so much) Big Lots didn't have any more and I never saw it anywhere else although I looked for it in the local grocery stores and where I live that is only Wal-Mart Super Centers and Food Lion. Therefore, I was elated when I saw it on Amazon while browsing the gourmet food section. This bread is delicious especially when toasted. It tastes really good with butter, cheese and jams and jellies. You can probably make sandwiches with it too although I would advise toasting it first as the bread has a tendency to crumble untoasted. As a matter of fact, toasting the bread gives it a whole different texture as I am not that fond of the bread untoasted. You only get about seven or eight slices of bread and although the bread is oblong and bigger than the average slice of bread paying $3.00 for seven or eight slices of oversized bread ain't cheap but to me it is worth it as it is almost like a delicacy. Anyway, people spend their money on what is important to them. By the way, the bread is healthy, nutritious and full of whole grain and fiber. Therefore, it is good for you. A product that is good for you and taste good to you is a winner in my book.

Dense, a bit crumbly, best for open-face savory (not sweet) sandwiches. Lasts a long time.
Flavor: I happen to like the savory, faintly vinegary sourdough rye flavor, tho it may not be to everyone's taste. Texture: Dense, coarse, somewhat crumbly, especially round the edges, because of the whole rye grains included. Size: A slice is approximately 6 5/8 x 3 3/4 x 3/8. inches. Each packet contains 7 slices. This is the third time I've ordered 6 packets at once. They arrived near the end of July 2018 with expiration dates of June 6, 2019. I've easily made 6 packets last 6 months or more because I'm restricting carbs in my diet, but want to have some bread on hand when I get a craving for some. This is more nutritious than bread made with white flour, has more fiber and doesn't go moldy, which makes it suitable for having only the occasional slice. I like it spread with hummus or guacamole or as an open-faced sandwich with something like egg salad or tuna-mayo-capers or mayo-cucumber slices, or Dusseldorf mustard and sharp cheddar cheese melted in the microwave. I generally slice the bread crosswise into 4 fingers after topping it with something, to minimize the likelihood that it might break while I'm eating it -- it's just easier to eat that way because the slices are so large. As recommended, I put the remaining slices into (zip lock type quart size) plastic bags (3 per bag) and keep them in the refrigerator until I want another one. It helps to separate them gently with a table knife first. I haven't tried toasting this bread because the slices are too long to fit into my toaster and even if I halved them, I think they'd leave too many crumbs at the bottom. That's probably its only downside for me. I daresay one could make a good Reuben sandwich with it, although it would be a rather heavy sandwich. Its flavor wouldn't be suitable for PB&J or other sweet fillings.I think it would be too likely to break apart on irregular fillings like a BLT. For a two slice sandwich I think it would really need something that would hold the bread together, like cheese or liverwurst that's spread, not sliced, and the filling would need to be relatively thin -- not thick in the middle like a deli sandwich. It's a good, honest, respectable bread whose flavor hasn't been tweaked to make a person's taste buds want to eat the entire packet at one go, the way snack foods are, which is something I'm grateful for! One does need to handle a single slice somewhat carefully to avoid breaking it -- don't bend it.

Received Expired Bread
Received the bread on time. However it has expired on 1/1/2026 even though I placed the order on 2/14/2026. The bread is delicious but extremely disappointed with the purchase due to receiving expired product.

Good Euro Bread
If you like the 'old European' bread, then you should love this. It's not like anything you would find at your local grocery. It's different, but very good. This bread (I have tried a sunflower seed bread brand as well) is a bit on the sour tasting side ..... true rye taste. It is very thin, but very 'substancial' .... heavy. Many have said that it is even better toasted. I have tried toasting it .... if I can keep it from falling through the bread holder of the toaster..... it falls through because it is so thin. I have to carefully tilt it as I put it in the toaster. I have found that it does not toast all that well. I have toasted almost twice as long as usual store bought rye and I just can't seem to get it right. Try it!
