Great relief from flakey USB external drives
After struggling with USB connected external drives for too long -with the errors, incompatibilities, drive disappearing and reappearing at random - i gave up on that and tried this. It's flawless. oh, it was a bit of a pain to install in my PC, as i had to separately buy some spacers to fit it into the 5.25" slots in my case - but once up and running, it's been a breath of fresh air. no errors, no randomly disappearing drive, and because there's no translation of traffic from SATA to USB and back to SATA, so performance is significantly better, even though theoretical throughput saturation should be the limiting factor. My external drive is for 'bugout' purposes - if there's a wildfire, earthquake, whatever, i have my backups on the 'external' drive in order to grab it and go. I'd say the difference between disconnecting a USB attached external drive, and swinging the door open on my case and flipping the lever to eject the drive on this device is maybe four seconds. That's an acceptable delay.

Excellent
I'm surprised at some of the reviews. This thing is excellent. It's well built (all metal), easy to install, looks amazingly professional, and works flawlessly. It comes with all the cables you'll need and even some 3m protectors if you're going to use rotating disks instead of SSDs. One of my older Intel SSDs (roughly 7 years now) had a plastic frame around it that I had to remove to make it fit but that's not this device's fault. All my other SSDs fit perfectly. They slide in and out easily and I've had no failures connecting any of them. I couldn't be happier and will buy more of these for installation in my other computers when covid lockdown is over.

Solid tray
I bought this alongside a new Kingston 3k SSD 240gb for my older ASRock X58 SATA II built system. I already had a hot swappable drive for my HDD that I love I thought if I was going to go the SSD route, I should have a similar tray for my SSD. Once I opened the packaging I was delighted to see the construction seemed pretty solid as some other reviewers have noted. The install into the 3.5" bay was a little tricky, but mostly due to my case, not because of this tray. Once I figured out how the mounting holes lined up and got everything wired up it operated perfectly. I am knocking 1 star off for the limited installation hole alignment. Although the holes did eventually line up I would have preferred an adjustable rail or something that allows the tray to be installed a little for "forward" sitting in my case so it aligned with my other HDD tray and optical drive. Since the 3.5" bays are below my 5" bays and since the tray itself is more "sunken in" than the other devices, it's hard to see this tray compared to the others. Maybe newer full system cases do not have this problem any more and maybe I could have adjusted my other devices to be more "sunken in," but since I got it working I didn't want to mess with it any more. As far as quality of the tray itself I feel it's pretty solid and my drive slides in and the connectors in the back aligns perfectly. Some other reviewers noted the stickers you need to place on your SSD to ensure the bottom exposed controller board on your SSD does not short out against the tray. The Kingston drive I bought was completely sealed all around so I did not worry about this sticker thing, which I agree is hokey, if you do need to use it. I can definitely see a the next redesign of this tray should avoid using stickers entirely. I am very happy with this product for the price once it was installed. Since my system is SATA II I cannot testify to SATA III capability for this tray.

Pleasantly surprised!
I purchased two of these bays for a Mac Pro case mod - I wanted something that didn't take up too much space, but would provide hookups for 2 x 2.5" drives, and this fit the bill. QUALITY/DESIGN This really is surprisingly well-made for the price, with a mostly-metal construction. The tray-less design is simple yet effective, and the eject mechanism is among the best I have seen - you simply unlock the front tab and pull out! The bay comes with two 3M stickers to help avoid electrical shorts through the metal cage - a nice thought, although not so convenient for those of us that switch drives often. I think a thin plastic coating on the cage would have been better! The dual-color LEDs are not too bright, showing blue for power and a pinkish-red for drive activity. The bay boasts a 50,000 drive insertion rate - hopefully I will NEVER get close to this figure, but it's nice to know it was built to last. Included are two power adapters that go give power to your SATA drives and have a 4-pin connector to power the bay. They are standard molex connectors, not SATA, so keep this in mind when choosing the bay. The key lock feature is nice, but something that I won't use. FUNCTIONALITY Not much to say here - I plugged in the power and SATA cables and each drive was recognized without issue. As far as I understand, these support SATA3 speeds (seeing as they are simply providing an extended connection), and my boot drive (Mushkin SSD) is running at around 250MB/s which is just about right for that drive. OVERALL I chose this bay because it was cheaper than others, but I'm actually very pleased with the overal quality and design. I have added a customer image of one of these bays "in action", so you can see how unimposing these bays are. A great way to add 2 x 2.5" drives to your rig, and highly recommended! Now to swap out the LEDs without ruining the thing...

Surprisingly high build quality!
I picked this up to add a couple 2.5" hot swap bays to compliment the 2x 3.5" hot swap bays already installed (I do a lot of drive cloning.) When I opened the box all I could think was "Wow this is super nice!" Don't get me wrong. There's nothing inherently special about a dual 2.5" hot swap drive adapter. However, it's the overall build quality that makes this so remarkable. The frame is sturdy metal, the bay doors, levers, locks, and everything is very solid. It truly makes my 3.5" adapters look & feel cheep! There is only one con I can think of and it's a small gripe. The instructions say to place some plastic film on the under side of the drive where the circuit board is to ensure it doesn't short out on the chassis. They do supply you with 2x of these drive protectors, but to me the whole idea of a hot swap bay is to be able to pop drives in and out at whim. The protectors aren't truly necessary, but more of an insurance policy. Still... I would have liked for them to have coated the separator in a non-conductive film rather than having us to place the film on the drives. Still, this is a small caveat for such a great quality adapter. One other thing to consider when purchasing this adapter is that it fits in a 3.5" bay. If you wish to install it in most full size desktops you will likely need a 3.5" to 5.25" adapter unless your case has available 3.5" bays. If you're looking at this item then you're already in the market. Let me save you some trouble and just tell you this right now... This is the adapter you want. Don't bother saving a few dollars. The quality of this drive is well worth every penny. I wish all my adapters were this nice.

Works wonderfully
I've had this unit for several months now and I've never had a moment's trouble with it. Once installed you just use it knowing you can rely on it to do what it was designed to do. Speaking of design, it is well constructed of mostly metal and durable plastic. The little doors open and snap closed easily without much force. It also comes with a little key that enables you to lock either compartment if you wish. I use this unit to house my boot SSD drive and to insert other SSD drives as needed, just like you'd do with a USB flashdrive (or zip or floppy drives, remember those?). I also bought a similar item from a different brand but that other one was less well constructed and was a lot fussier about opening & closing it. This one is a keeper!

Work with SATA II only.
1 - Solid and nice looking. It will not work if you connect to a SATA III port to a SATA III SSD, however, it is backward compatible with SATA II port. 2 - Only one connector for the front power LED while there are 2 bays for the unit. I ended up returning this product and order this: Vantec 2.5-Inch Dual Bay Trayless SATA III - 6G Mobile Rack (MRK-225S6-BK) Which has the same look and design, 2 power connectors for front LED and will work with SATA III.

Muy buen producto recomendado
Funciona a la perfección, es de metal muy resistente, la única mejora desde mi punto de vista que sugeriría es que ya no utilicen los conectores antiguos para los led, por lo demás cumplió todas las expectativas.
