Simply Stunning Woven Quilts: 11 Easy Techniques, Great Results Paperback – May 1, 2008

I received this book yesterday evening when I got home. The first thing I always do is go through the book and look at the pictures to see if anything catches my eye. Is there anything that I want to make. The pictures in the book are wonderful, stunning! I would like to make each one of the quilts. Today I sat down to read the instructions. The first instructions are easy to understand and detailed. Anna starts out with a simply project. As you go through the book, the projects become, in my opinion, more of a challenge. But the projects are wonderful and I certainly will give them a try. I'm not a novice quilter, but I'm not a master by any means. There is semi-circle weaving, circle curvy weaving, fuzzy weaving, and partly curvy weaving. Great projects.At the back of the book are more basic instructions and a pull out section of patterns. I have not taken the pattern section out so I'm not certain what it contains.I would recommend this book to anyone who loves beautiful quilts no matter if they are a novice or a person who wants a challenge. I can't see where they would be disappointed.

I came across this book accidently while looking for something else and I'm glad I did. It is a simple technique overall but the finished look can be very different.

All of the designs in this book are based on the same base design. It is great for the beginner.

O'm making my first fabric weave item. I've chosen white and gold fabric to weave with a clear and gold glitter tulle. I will applique a Christmas Tree with skirt and have minature toys to place around the tree.The process of weaving is fun and produces a really neat background. I'm so grateful that Anna was willing to share her talents with others. Very well written and easy to follow.

This book is so much more than I thought it would be. The directions are very clear and the photos/diagrams are extremely helpful. It starts with very simple weaving and continues onto complex patterns. The only thing that I wish would be easier to find is the gradated fabric. But as we all know, fabrics come and go. You can still use this book with your fabrics that you have in your stash! Hand dyed fabric would be beautiful.

This is an easy to understand, creative book. The author is very clear in her directions. You can achieve amazing backgrounds in very little time. I used an applique over the woven background for my first wall hanging and I'm thinking about embroidering over my next one. I also want to try the circular design. It looks hard but isn't. The sky's the limit. Have fun!

I saw a quilt at a quilt show in NYC that used this technique and wanted to learn how. This book sets out the process for creating this beautiful woven look in any quilt. Have not done it yet, but after reading the HOW TO, I feel confident that I will.

I enjoyed reading this book and looking through the pictures. It presented some clever ideas and inspirations. It hasn't yet inspired me to tackle any of the projects.
