Q: Do they rust if they get wet? Ex: Swimming with it on.

My son got this set and so far so good. He has worn it in the shower and pool and it has yet to rust. I'm not sure how it'd fare in the ocean, but the couple times he's swam in chlorinated water it's been okay.

Q: Do the rings separate?

They're not fused together, but they are loop in loop. You can take them off the chain, but the rings still have to stay as a pair.
