Can you use this as a normal radio

It can't be used as a standard radio. Once you set it going it scans through stations continuously. You can speed it up, slow it down and change sweep direction.

What frequency range/s are scanned on which bands

The FM scan range is 87.5 - 108.0, and the AM scan range is 522 - 1710

I know its not for listening to radio, how do i stop the radio interfering with my investigations

I found extending the aerial to full improves the evp response. Record the broadcast and review it after the investigation. I live in Birmingham and there can be to many strong stations for the radio to pass through. Had better results using MW. Check out Natalie Benns on YouTube, she uses it with great results.

How do i minimise the actual radio stations interfering? When it scans all i can make out is songs on the radio

You cant really quiet the radio stations unless you try a faraday pouch bag to cancel the stations and more white noise. Or take the antenna off. But then u could break the radio if your not careful. You could try sweeping it faster if it can.
