Ugly Stik -- Really Not That Ugly and The Performance is BEAUTIFUL !!
Folks, for $50 American Dollars printed in 2017 it is very difficult to beat the value and performance of this rod. Great action. Nice balance. Excellent cork handle. Very sweet rod. I used to use all graphite blank rods but got tired of breaking the tips on them. I decided to try an Ugly Stik rod. That was 10 years ago and I've never looked back and I've got around a dozen Ugly Stiks of various kinds now. I have yet to break any of them and they perform beautifully. I recently purchased another brand (Ardent) and I broke it on the first day out on a hook set. I could hardly believe it. And their warranty was CRAP compared to Ugly Stik warranty. I'll never stray again. Keep up the good work Shakespeare and I'll be with you for life !

I'm A Fan!
I have become a super fan of the Ugly Stik. From the Ugly Stik Ultra Light through the Ugly Stik Tiger Elite, and various spinning and casting rods in between, I must have almost 15 Ugly Stiks. My oldest Ugly Stik is a 6' medium spinning rod I bought in 1987 and it is still going strong. Short of closing the one tip in a vehicle door, I've never had an Ugly Stik fail me. I won't say there are not better rods out there, but for the money you pay for Ugly Stiks, coupled with the performance and durability they provide, I don't think you can beat them. I really like the new Elite series and think this pole is going to give me a lot of service in the future; the same as my other Stiks. Updated 27Feb20: I've owned these rods for going on 4 years now. They work great and hold up well. In the same time frame, I've had other poles, most often more expensive poles, during that same time frame that either have not held up or I just didn't care for their feel in comparison to Ugly Stiks. I'll keep buying Ugly Stiks because there affordable, dependable and fishable.

Overall: Like this rod a lot.
I purchased this rod for inshore fishing in Northern Florida. A 7', med-heavy, rod is a go to for many fishermen in this area - probably most places really. Shipping: It arrived quickly and safely. I always worry when ordering fishing rods as I've had one arrive in extra pieces. Action: Definitely fast. This is my preference in general, though I do like medium action for long distance beach casting. I feel like I can feel bites better this way. Power: I think it feels right for the rating (10-20) lb test, but you can throw heavier lures than it lists (1/4-3/4). Our biggest issue here is wind and frequently I like to go with 1 - 2 oz spoons for jetty or light surf fishing. Great - for what it's meant to do. I caught a 1 lb bass and could barely feel it, but a 10 lb redfish was a lot fun - not a strain on the rod, but still fun. Sensitivity: You can feel bites pretty well - even little pinfish. Guides: This is one of the reason I picked this rod. I HATE it when the ceramic rings pop out of a guide. Changing out rod guides is not a hobby for me, fishing is. I never want to worry about this. These are tough, stainless steel, and perfectly smooth. I don't think I'll ever have a problem unless I hook one in a door. Reel seat: Graphite. Simple with no issues. Handle: I like cork. I know that foam is the more durable material long term, but I just like the look and feel of the cork better. This feels very smooth in my hand and seems well constructed. Overall: Like this rod a lot. I wanted a rod I could depend on for a long time and this is it. Price and looks are good too. I paired mine with an Abu Garcia Pro Max and it is an awesome combo. Largemouth Bass, Redfish, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, etc. can all be caught on this setup. One bad thing - mine arrived with the all guides slightly off center from the reel seat. The guides themselves are lined up properly compared to each other, but they are slightly right of the reel seat. Not enough to affect the casting or fishing but it is there. Not significant enough to send it back.

Amazing!
Been a huge fan of ugly stik rods my whole life and this rod is one of the best ones ive owned and on top of that they accidentally sent me two 7 foot rods instead of one, guess that was my late christmas gift ๐คท๐พโโ๏ธ

Absolutely amazing
I love this rod! I got the 7 foot medium heavy for muskie fishing and it performed perfectly. It is a little bit nose heavy in balance but not enough to fatigue me at all when fishing 10 hours a day. The action is perfect for quick responses and plenty strong for big fights. My dad was in disbelief how easily I managed 40 inch muskies. I ran 65 lb braid and had zero issues with the guides whatsoever. The tag on the the rod says that guides have been upgraded to handle heavy braid so that reassured me before my trip. I love the sensitivity and strength of this rod. I'm quickly getting rid of all others and replacing them with these-both casting and spinning.

Great rod for the money
This has been a great rod for the money. A lot of people act like an Ugly Stik has no sensitivity. It may not be the most sensitive rod, but the sensitivity has been fine at this price. The rod looks great, is pretty light, and virtually indestructible. I love the solid one piece stainless steel guides- no inserts to fall out! If you're really concerned about sensitivity, then you may want to look elsewhere, but for techniques that don't require maximum sensitivity, you can't go wrong at this price.
