VERY SOLID! EXTREMLY WELL BUILT!
This extender is just what the doctor ordered! I bought a 150 dollar tripod that is also solid and well built. I should have payed more attention to the features because it was way too short for me. I got a bargain from Ebay, since I only payed 50 dollars for it, and really want to use it! I researched my problem that I was having. I never heard of a tripod extender before! I said, OK what the heck for only 18 dollars! With the tripod extended to the maximum height, plus the extender raised to its maximum height, I now have an extension of 5-feet! Way cheaper than ordering a new 60 inch tripod! When I put the 1 quarter to 5 eights adapter it fit perfect. After tightening the pivoting head, I noticed that the adapter sunk a little into the thread hole of the head. No problem, I tightened it as tight as could, with the help of silicone rubber on the thread and outer surface for a permanent fit! I will not need to unscrew, or re-screw it any more! About the extender, it is solid, and very well built! It solved my mistake from a short, but expensive tripod, at minimum price! I would highly recommended it!

Design Flaw - DON'T JUST SCREW IN THE BUSHING UNTIL IT TIGHTENS!
This tripod/monopod extender is decently built and will serve my purposes well, but has a design flaw that almost led me to return it. The 3/8-1/4 bushing adaptor does not tighten, and needs to be epoxied in place. I used a flat head screwdriver to install the bushing, and instead of tightening on a bottom/back of the 3/8 hole, it dropped into the interior of the extender. I could find no way to disassemble the piece to retrieve the bushing, and had to randomly jiggle the extender over my head (so I could observe the hole) until it rested on the back of the threads in the correct orientation. It took some delicate maneuvering to get the thread started from the back and to retrieve the bushing. I then applied epoxy to the female 3/8 thread and reinstalled the bushing at the correct depth. I expect it will be very secure. This extender is a good purchase for the price (<$20), but I would recommend some epoxy on the female 3/8 threads on the bottom before installing the bushing. (This also means it will no longer function as an extender to a support with a 3/8 thread.)

Really skinny and spindly looking
This is much smaller than I envisioned. Rated at 66 lbs, but only an inch around, it scares me so much I have not tried to use it yet. I may do that with my binoculars now - I need a light weight extension...

Adapter not firm
the 1/4 to 3/8 adapter does not remain tight. I wound up gluing the adapter into the female end to keep it from getting loose every few minutes.

Great product, light and easy to use
This made my Ariel view of recording tarot rather simple and much easier than fumbling with tripod legs and not level cameras! Itโs super lightweight: but the extra piece that came to be able to attach my manfrotto phone adaptor to the extension, fell inside the tube and I spent some time trying to get it back out. The design is kinda dumb but it gets the job done and for travel the aluminum is a nice touch bc of how little it is. It fits nicely inside the tripod bag along with my travel tripod without causing any bulk.

Does what I need!
Using this for a desk set up for my camera. It works well. Don't plan on using it outside of that. I don't think I would use it for any "on the job" projects because it does seem "cheap" so don't think I would want to put an expensive camera or equipment on it but for my desk set up it is great and works well. Would order it again, well...will order it again for my husbands desk. We use it for podcasting and videos from our desk.

These are awesome!
I own a bunch of these. The carbon fiber are my favorite but I have a few aluminum as well.I use a small mini-tripod for my web camera. I stack several of these extenders. The camera is small and my base tripod is a quality one. This gives me a tall but really easy camera mount for me to grab and move around with in my classroom

Smooth adjustment
Adjusts from about 6 inches to about a foot. (estimates not measurements) The adjustment is smooth and the length holds when set. It can be adjusted anywhere between the extremes to fit exactly what you need. Will hold camera and lens securely. If tripod not vertical, can make it a little top heavy and susceptible to tipping.

Ok and did the job
Well not very sturdy but did the job. Need to be careful with the thread adapter as you can accidentally over set it and drop inside the hollow tube.

Donโt but it plastic screw mount does not grab or tighten
Will not attach to screw mount at top of tripod making this extension useless
