CARL 15051 Bidex perforating/Scoring Blade Set for Personal/Professional Rotary Trimmers, Blue

I should have bought these years ago! I've had my Carl trimmer for years and, initially, purchased several of the decorative blades. While I was aware of the "perforating" blade and knew what it would do, I didn't know what the "scoring" blade was for. But recently, while ordering replacement cutting mats, I decided to go ahead and purchase this Perforating/Scoring Blade Set (Amazon's price is too good to pass up). Wow! I was really surprised at how professional the results of the perforating blade are, and I realize now that I could have used the scoring blade many times in the past! It makes a perfect fold line (very professional-looking, as well) in card stock, so that when you fold it, there is no resistance and no weird, crumpled, or lumpy areas near the crease. These 2 blades do a more professional and perfect job than any of my other blades. The perforated blade does such a super job that after tearing along the perforated line, you can barely feel or see that the edge was perforated - very smooth with no ragged edges.

As a graphic designer and crafter, I had the chance to use these quite a bit since I received them a few days ago. Both blades will prove to be invaluable and will save a lot of time, which is very important. Both blades work perfectly on standard weight papers as well as heavier paper stock. The scoring blade offers a clean fold. When I tried the perforating blade on a piece of cardstock, I found the pieces separated with little effort. Excellent additions to my 11x18" Carl 12218 Bidex.

I needed a perforating wheel for my Carl rotary photo trimmer. After using it to perforate a mail piece I was very impressed with how easy to use and with the result on that piece. I would highly recommend the perforating wheel as well as this trimmer. I have been able to easily order any parts (the ones that wear out from use and are designed to be replaced) and quickly get them at a reasonable price for this product.

The blades are very easy to change out and the perforating blade is exactly what I was looking for. It does a great job, cuts through 4 sheets of index paper!

The blades are so easy to change on my Carl rotary cutter. I tried the perforating blade and was very pleased with the results. It makes a score that is very easy to tear--perhaps a little too easy. I was mass producing tear-out coupon books and found if you use regular paper there is a chance some of them will begin to rip out before you're ready. The paper scorer was okay. I prefer using a scoring board when scrap booking, but this allows me to do scores on larger paper compared to my scoring board. Honestly, wish they would just have sold the perforating blade separately at half the price.

These work great with my Carl cutter. I love that they come in a protective box, they'll last a lot longer protected instead of just rattling around in a box. You do have to put a bit of pressure into the blade when making the score, especially in thicker cardstock, but it does the job.

I am very happy with the paper cutter and now to have these blades with the additional functions makes a good device even better! I didn't even realize there was a compartment on the underside of the cutter for blade storage until I got these. Very happy with this purchase!

These are NOT universal Carl Cutter wheels, the Pro model has different wheels encased in a plastic shroud so you don't have to touch the blade. These will fit and work but if you visit the Carl website you can see the difference.The perforating blade is excellent and generates an almost invisible micro-perf edge, worth the price alone.The scoring wheel does not work because the cutting mat is flat and does not have a groove to allow the score to indent the page. I fixed this by using a Dremel to cut a groove into one edge of a scoring mat to create the dent. Each mat allows 4 edges/sides so I didn't loose much but gained a lot.This family of cutters has excellent support from Carl and all replacement parts including wheels and cutting pads are available on Amazon so if you want something that will last this is a good choice.PS - The pro model does not have a scoring wheel option probably because of the indent problem but the regular scoring wheel works fine with an indent.
