Vampirella 50th Anniversary Artbook

VAMPIRELLA's 50th anniversary was three years ago, so this volume is coming a bit late to the party. (But given delays caused by the pandemic, I can cut them some slack for that.) And while it's got some fantastic art, the bulk of it is only recent art from the last few years. Hardly a 50th anniversary overview, and anyone buying this in anticipation of a celebration of a half century of the classic character might find themselves surprised and disappointed. A more appropriate title would have been "Vampirella: The Dynamite Years Volume 2."Overall, there's some very sharp work on display here (although a couple of pieces in there look more like fan art and feel very out of place next to the rest of the content), and I'm glad I've got it to go with Dynamite's other hardcover Vampirella Art volumes. But the focus on current Vampi art, with no nod toward any of the vintage illustrations that made Vampirella such an enduring creation, may alienate or annoy some consumers. If you're a fan of the current comic, however, this is definitely a book for you.

Wer auf Vampirella Titelbilder aus den vergangenen 50 Jahren hofft, wird sehr enttäuschend sein. Das Buch enthält viele tolle Bilder, keine Frage, jedoch handelt es sich lediglich um einige Cover aus der Dynamite Comics Ära. Und selbst die stammen größtenteils aus einem engeren Zeitraum. Wer die klassischen Bilder bevorzugt, sollte zum Buch „Vampirella: The Warren Years“ greifen.Als ich das Buch bestellt hatte, gab es noch einen anderen Klappentext, soweit ich mich erinnere und der klang eher nach einem Best of der Titelbilder aus 50 Jahren Vampirella. Dementsprechend war ich beim ersten Durchblättern enttäuscht. Aber als ich Zeit für das Buch hatte, legte sich mein "Zorn". Es sind wirklich tolle Bilder dabei und das Buch wird bestimmt noch einige Male aus dem Regal genommen und betrachtet werden.

Me llegó perfectamente embalado. El libro, de tapa dura, posee muchísimas ilustraciones, pero me ha decepcionado la calidad del papel. Las hojas son prácticamente papel de fumar, muy finas, lo cual hace que sea un producto caro para la calidad que tiene. Un artbook no debería escatimar en la calidad de su papel. Por lo demás, el libro es muy chulo.
