The Billionaire's Obsession ~ Simon

Kill me now
First, I have worked with several, several computer geeks in my career and none are muscular and drop dead gorgeous. They are usually chair sitters, geeking out on a keyboard. Simon came off as so pathetic and really creepy through about half the book as he stalked, and obsessed, over Kara for over a year before she actually met him. Kara came off as an idiot female trying to pretend to be strong and not vulnerable. Skipped so much through this book that I look at all the high ratings and wonder if I am reading the same book. Then the book goes off on rants one can do without plus repeating the same 'issues' over, and over, and over. Ugh! You get it the first 2 times. Simon comes across so needy which is a turn off. The whole story is not relatable at all. Someoneās twisted fantasyland.

I listened to the Audible version of this book. There are 3 books within this story plus a Valentineās Day story. Perhaps originally they were released separately as part of a serial and now they are packaged together as one book. Thatās how they read. At least, thatās how the transition seemed between books 1 and 2. I could not find it in me to listen beyond the first few chapters of book 2. This is even with the outstanding narrator, Elizabeth Powers, whose voice I adore. I just found the push and pull, the misunderstandings, the heroās attitude and even the sexy stuff rather formulaic. Importantly for me, the hero was not likeable. Perhaps he improved as the book went on, but I lost the will to continue listening. After more than 2.5 hours I think I felt manipulated in a way I didn't like, and could not continue on for another 8 hours.I read and listen to a lot of romance and erotica. I am bound to come across books that I donāt connect with. This was one of them. However, other readers obviously love this book if reviews are anything to go by. Although this book seemed right up my alley, it wasnāt for me. All I can say is: read the sample on Amazon.com and listen to the Audible sample. You might love it.

Good story, gave it a 5 but it was close.
Let me get this out first. The sex was way over the top. No one could get over the loss of blood to the brain that much and still function. However, I'm from a different era (I'm old, what can I say?) Some explicit sex I can understand, but too much is just too much. O.K., that said, I will say that I really liked the story. The characters were so well defined and the flow was great. Each character had their own back story and the author did so well in bringing that out as the story progressed it was easy to get into it. You get the feeling that you really "know" these people and actually like them! It was a sweet love story tinged with just enough sadness in their pasts and then the growth as they struggle to get over it, it seemed not only plausible but believable. I got over the seemingly endless erotica, got good at skimming it, mostly so I could get on with the story itself. I did think the author did a good job in the one scene between Simon and Kara when his old fear from the "incident" in his past came into play. That was well done, he had some serious baggage from that and it was almost too much for him to get over. He did tho' and the love between the two of them came clear. I loved the loyalty of the two brothers, Sam and Simon, it was just the thing to help the story along. I'd actually read this again simply for the story itself. So well done. I'd recommend this to anyone that would like a true love story even with the excessive sex. lol

Great start to a very addictive romance series!
I started reading this book as a summer distraction to pass a long rainy day and now I am on book 6 of this series! These are the beginning books in the series that lay the groundwork for the following character romances by J.S. Scott. These beginning stories focus on Simon and Kara. At first, Simon seems creepy and stalkerish but in a good way. He literally watches over Kara for a year following her home each night and standing back in the shadows. One night, Kara collapses from being sick, working so hard and going to nursing school, of course Simon is there to catch her and the romance begins. The following books follow Simon and Kara's story of love and managing a relationship. There is angst, there is sex, and there is romance. The book is written from both characters perspectives and leads you nicely into the next romantic story about Simon's brother Sam. Each book lays the groundwork for the next in the series and all the characters compliment each other nicely.I read this book via Kindle Unlimited and am reviewing it for informational purposes only.

A great little read
This is my first outing with J.S. Scott and I am pleased to announce that it was a very enjoyable trip. This is the the tale of two broken souls who manage to connect under some very unusual circumstances.Simon has been watching Kara for a year (yes it is slightly stalkerish). She is an employee of his mother's restaurant who has captured his attention since he first saw her. Since then he has been trying to keep her safe from a distance, including following her home when she has to work late at night. It is while doing this particular activity that he rushes to her rescue when she starts to collapse on the street. He decides then and there he is going to take care of her and keep her safe whether she wants his help or not.Kara has been poor most of her life. Orphaned at an early age, she always had to take care of herself. But she is trying to change all of that. She is working and putting herself through college but she is still living hand to mouth. Eating isn't always an option and when she gets a virus she forces herself into work so that she can survive. When she feels herself passing out on the street she doesn't expect to get rescued by the big, gorgeous and dominant Simon Hudson but she does. And now he's got her, he intends to keep her. Both of these protagonists are in pain from their past. But together they can heal if they can learn to trust. This is a really sweet story with a HEA. J. S. Scott manages to weave her way through addressing some very difficult subject matter with a light hand. Thoroughly suggest that you give this book a try. Enjoy peeps š

We all need a Simon
I loved listening to this story.Simon's been looking out for Kara from afar and watching her, run herself into the ground waitressing in the evenings at his mothers restaurant to help make ends meet whilst she puts herself through nursing school. One night Kara finds Simon rescuing her and so starts the love story. Simon has some personal issues and needs to learn to trust Kara who only wants to love him. This story has it all, love, emotions, and shame and oh yes steaming hot sex ..Sit back listen and enjoy, I did.

Not my cup of tea
I find it odd when behaviours like stalking are made out to be protective or sweet just because the H is rich or good looking. It's still not ok. The casual dialogue around Simon being upset about Tara "asking for trouble" by walking home in certain clothes is harmful. Even if the clothes were borrowed and concerns about safety were part of her internal dialogue too, it still gives off a victim blaming vibe and probably didn't add anything to the story (Except to show that Simon thought he owned her before he had ever had a conversation with her?). After Tara's circumstances change, Simon has complete power over her life. While there's show of her pushing back or the implication that she just needed a helping hand in her time of need, the dynamic is still concerning and not something I particularly enjoyed reading. The instalust is also overdone - the characters spend (waste?) lot of their internal dialogue lusting after each other. The only reason I read on until the end was because Simon had some past trauma that gave the story a little more depth. I personally don't enjoy such themes so I will not be reading the rest of the series.

Sexy billionaire meets his match
This is the story of Kara and Simon. They come from two different worlds, but attraction finds them and doesn't let go. Simon has been watching over Kara for a long time, without her knowing that he even exists. In the end, she believes that he's saved her, but really they've saved each other. Simon likes his own way, and so does Kara. They find out that opposites actually do attract. Love brings the two of them together. Can they stay together, or will life get in their way? Another fantastic read.

Sweet Obsession
This is my first book by this author, I found it to be a sweet mix between romance and erotica, not a bad combination š. Both Kara and Simon are great characters, each with his own difficult past, I found their Obsession with one another actually quite sweet as it was not the destructive kind but one born out of love(sigh). Looking forward to listening to Sam and Maddie's story as they were already introduced in this book.
