First Thoughts: You Get What You Pay For
The media could not be loaded. [Update 02/27/2019]As noted in my original review, the inner chains on this basket do not stay put. I've attached a video reflecting this and noting a simple/cheap fix I implemented to keep them in place. A bit of 1/4" ID 1/2" OD fuel line goes a long way. To do the same, you'll need 24 - 1 1/8" sections of above mentioned fuel line or other tubing, and simply cut it down the middle allowing you to loop it over the metal, keeping the chain centered. To make it a bit more permanent, you can add a tiny bit of RTV sealant to each section once loops onto the upper cage/basket. In total I spent $4 on the fuel line and this simple fix has made putting into said basket much more consistent.I'll soon be taking the basket apart and repainting it as the powder coating is already chipping a decent bit. My idea is to toss a few coats of an aerosol bed liner on the pole and base while I hit the chains and basket with a glow in the dark clear coat. I'll add an update after that is complete.[Original Review 02/19/2019]Long and short of it is that this basket is a steal if you can get it through the Amazon Warehouse or as an Open Box deal from a vendor. I got mine for 69.95 through Elevated Commerce but fulfilled by Amazon as an open-box. For that price, this basket really can't be beat. I can't complain about the quality of the box it shipped in as it was disclosed that it was an open/damaged box. The box was definitely beat to hell, but the contents were all there and in perfect order.Pros:Inexpensive!Well made considering the priceEasy to put together and tear down for portability.Lightweight (also a con, I'll explain lower)Cons:Build quality is a mixed bagBase is a bit flimsyLightweightIf you want something to toss short putts at and don't really care too much about quality, this thing is a steal. That said, a few engineering tweaks and this basket can be much better.Firstly, one of my inner chains were bound up. It's a simple QC issue in the MFG process that required me to open up the top S link, remove the chain, unbind it and re-install. No big deal. The second issue, one that I'd argue is probably the biggest issue, is stability. The basket is relatively stable on perfectly flat ground but still wobbles a bit. The circular ring at the bottom is a joke and simply provides aesthetics. I feel this could be improved upon greatly with some better quality/slightly larger diameter steel and the difference in cost would be negligible. (We're talking an extra $.50-$1.00 in materials here if you DON'T have a supplier.) This isn't a deal breaker but should be noted. The last tweak involves the inner chains. The S links are simply hung on the top of the basket and unlike any other DGA approved basket, there are no rings to keep them centered. What this means is that the tend to push to the side after the first hit, leaving huge gaps in the chains for your disc to simply pass through/bounce out. I've never had so many discs pass through the chains than I have with this thing. (I've been playing for about 2 years now, and it's happened to me maybe 3 times on the course? I play 2-4 rounds of 18 every single weekend so that's quite a few putts over the past 2 years. In my driveway this afternoon from about 25 ft out, 1 out of every 2-3 putts passed through the inner chains and onto the ground beside the basket. There is an EXTREMELY simply way to fix this on the cheap, without the need for the MFG to even tac weld rings to hang said chains from. I bought some poly fuel line tubing from an auto parts store (get in the zone!) and split the tubing open, and then cut 1 1/16" sections out of said tube. I then placed a piece of tube on either side of each S link at the top of the basket, forcing them to stay in the center. The tubing cost me $4 and about 10 minutes of work. It also has a fairly class look to it.It amazes me that this could be so massively overlooked but my guess is that the company that makes this is run by people who have never thrown a disc golf disc.zFinal thoughts:With a bit of ingenuity from the MFG this basket could be an amazing buy. I still have it 4 stars as all of the things I found to be faults, I was able to easily mend myself, but I'm also somewhat handy. I suspect someone who is less handy would simply accept that this basket is built poorly and resolve themselves to the opinion of "Well, I got what I paid for."In my case, I've invested 69.95 + 4 in tubing and I'd gladly do it again for what I've ended up with. On that note, I also have an MVP Black Hole which is 10x the basket (much more stable, far superior build quality, chains catch your discs without needing to modify the basket etc.) and if you can swing the cost, is absolutely a better overall basket. If you're on a budget though, this Hive Disc Golf basket can be made to be just as effective at half the cost.I would have given it 2-3 stars had I paid $100 for it but given that I was able to mend all of it's quirks myself, and considering that I paid $30 less than retail for a new-in-box basket, I can't help but give it 4 stars.

Great for the price!!
I bought this to have at work to practice on my breaks and it’s a pretty great basket for the price!!We have had a little over a month now and has been outside the whole time and seems to hold up well in the weather! The only thing I’d say is the basket is a little shallow compared to others and the chains are a little small but for the price that’s as good as you will get!

Quality basket for backyard practice
I've spent a couple days now playing with my hive basket, and I'm am a satisfied buyer. The basket was very easy to assemble and did not require any tools. All the parts thread together easily. The build quality is very good considering the product price. I do wish that the top of the basket had a band around it, but the basket still serves it's purpose without it. The chains are what I could consider mid-grade. Not super flimsy, but not as thick as what you'll find out on your local DG course that has quality baskets. If you're looking for a good backyard practice basket at a reasonable price, this one is a great option.

It's great for the money
It's easy to assemble and seems to be well made. Nice paint. It's not as heavy as permanent course baskets but it's also less than $100. You could replace the chains with heavier chains if you wanted to but it catches discs just fine the way it is. I don't have to use the stakes to hold it down.I'll get another one.

Great portable disk basket
A great basket to practice putting disk golf in the backyard. It's light enough to move around but sturdy enough that we don't have to stake it down (stakes were included). It's not as heavy-weight metal as in the actual disk golf courses but it's also not flimsy. We've had many evenings of great fun because we didn't have the time to go out to the course.

Budget Friendly Basket
The media could not be loaded. I was skeptical when I first bought this but after receiving it and throwing numerous putts at it I would say this is definitely a budget friendly but great practicing companion for any avid disc golfers. I would and have recommended this to anyone that is looking to improve their putting game and just have a solid basket to practice with. Mine did come all power coated in yellow unlike the rest of the pictures on here but that doesn’t bother me, just be aware of that! I would also recommend the fuel line modification that a previous reviewer showed in pictures.

Sturdy and awesome
Perfect! The color is great so you can actually see the thing against lush trees, it’s sturdy, and has the perfect chain noise. I was worried it would tip over with being thrown at hard or in weather. It is perfect and has exceeded expectations! Easy to assemble and a perfect gift for your favorite frisbee golfer

Durable
My honey is a pro disc golfer, and if it can survive him our dogs and our backyard it can survive anything. We've had it for some time, and it's still in the same shape despite weather and all. Very pleased with product.
