Maui RippersWomen’s 5" 4-Way Stretch Swim Shorts Boardshorts

I absolutely love these shorts. I was looking for something that I could wear to swim, boat, walk, hike, and whatever else the day brought. These are perfect. The material dries very fast and has a nice amount of stretch without getting stretched out. We walked around Martha's Vineyard all day, jumped off the jaws bridge, and returned to sightseeing without missing a beat or having to change clothes. I highly recommend them.

I agonized over buying these shorts vs. others. I read all of the reviews and in the end I purchased two sizes. My pants size is a 12 so I ordered a 12 and a 14 just in case. I'm exchanging the 14 for a 12. The material is lightweight and the shorts seem well made. They look good. I gained a lot of weight this year after a divorce and I was not feeling good about putting a bathingsuit on. I decided to wear these with a rash guard or a tankini top. I am 5'5" with muscular legs and thick knees lol. I was worried they would be snug in the legs and they are not. These shorts are the perfect length. Not too short but not frumpy. I am not super curvy so my rear and waist are proportionate to the rest of my body. I'd say average body shape. They sit below the belly button making them very comfortable. I could get away with the 14 if I planned on staying this size. They don't look bad. My boyfriend said they were cute and liked them until I put on the 12 and then he said actually, those fit better. It depends if you like to have a little extra room or not. I think they fit true to size. There's a little give in the material but not so much that they feel like they will stretch out.

I am a size 8/10 in pants. My hips at their widest are 41 inches. I ordered the size 10 and it was too small. I returned it and got the size 12 which fits good in the hips. It's a bit big in the waist but I can adjust it a little. The white tie on the front is not really functional. There is a velcro closure behind it. If I put the two sides of the velcro touching completely, the shorts will sit on my upper hips. If I move the velcro so that it is off-center and I pull the white tie hard together at the top, I can make the waist a little smaller and it will fit up higher but not quite on my true waist.The fabric feels good and the shorts are long enough to cover well. You don't have to wear anything under them as no one can see up. I tested this by sitting on the floor opposite a full length mirror with my knees up to my chest and the shorts were long enough to fit tight around the thighs in this extreme position without revealing anything. I'll test the shorts in the water and, if they don't perform well, I'll update this review.

I bought these specifically to use at local theme parks, but living in Florida means I use them more often than not. They're exactly what I wanted - light weight, comfortably, quick drying, versatile. Perfect! I'll be buying more soon - totally worth the price!To give an idea of sizing - I wear a 16 (14 on a good day) and carry most of my weight in hips/butt/thighs. There is a slight "pooching" of fabric in the front groin area, but my shirts are never short enough where this would be seen or a problem. Leg length is perfect to avoid "chub-rub" but not so long that it looks like you're wearing men's swim trunks.

I've worn boardshorts since I was about 12.These are awesome !!The material is great dries quick and really comfortable. Colors and patterns are really pretty I bought blue ones also and they are really cute.I did buy a larger size at first because reviews said to go up and also the longer style pair and the longer we're great also. I'm 5'2 and 185+ and this sizep16 is perfect I have no junk in my trunk and I'm straight up and down like a boy I have a tummy a big tummy . I hope that helps with sizing.*I have to say because I think some just don't understand what boardshorts are ..The ties are NOT useful never have been on any bordshorts I've ever had and I've lived in them for years. The velcro (if the bordshorts have them) takes a bit to soften.Not all have elastic waists if you need strech look for elastic.Companies didn't make boardshorts for a girl over about a size12 because "fat girls" can't surf or who knows their own vanity maybe.. I had to wear boys and men's for a really long time. So finding a company that actually makes them and makes them right is rare. I know maybe 3 this one included.The return shipping fee sucks and is surprising in today's world of online buying and instead of exchanging the last order I returned it so I lost out on the shipping being reimbursed. My advice would be to exchange if you have any issues with size rather then return, if you have the time to deal with it you save the 4 bucks.I will definitely buy again these are really great shorts !

I ordered the size 10 in black.While most boardshorts I have tried on veer towards the small size these are true to size or slightly larger. Exact measurements below.They have a velcro and tie waistband with a 5" x 4" side pocket with a velcro flap and drainage hole.Side to side measurement on size 10 are as follows:Waistband: 18.5 inchesHips: 21 inchesLeg: 12.5 inchesRise is 9.5 inchesInseam is 5 inchesNice soft polyester with 10% spandex. Seams are tight and they seem well made. material is soft.I am fairly slim hipped with muscular legs.I am returning these. There's a little too much material gap between my legs and the shorts (4 inches too much) and while they are okay I had hoped for more from a pair of polyesters shorts priced at $33.I took photos but the Amazon app and iPad have a long standing conflict that causes Amazon to lose the review every time I add photos - fix this please, Amazaon!
