Bloodfever: Fever Series Book 2

Loving this series
Bloodfever by Karen Marie Moning is yet another outstanding installment in the MacKayla Lane Novels! I really enjoyed the first one, Darkfever, and Bloodfever was just as good to me. I can really get into these novels and lose myself for a few hours. I love the characters and the whole Fae world that comes with reading these novels - I am definitely addicted to this series.Bloodfever finds Mac still on the search for the infamous book - the Sinsar Dub. She now knows who murdered her sister and is out for revenge but that has to be carefully thought out and planned. In the meantime she is still keeping company with Jericho Barrons and still managing to get herself in trouble. The only difference now is that she is aware of all the dangers around her or is she? It is possible that even Mac can be surprised by where life leads her in this installment.Mac also learns that there is a whole sect of women just like her - sidhe seers. They want her to join them but Mac is still keeping her options open. She wants to get all the players lined up and know exactly who and what they are and what they can do in regards to her. Can they kill her with one slip of the hand? Can they put her in a trance where even she doesn't know what's real? Mac lives in a really scary world right now that keeps coming up with more to keep her on her toes and just hoping to stay alive.I really liked how Mac grew in this novel from a spoiled, living on easy street girl to the darker, much more interesting Mac. Don't get me wrong - I liked Mac from the beginning but it's interesting to see her changing into this other person. She goes from an experience of pure heaven in this book to one of pure hell and comes out alive. She has a very dark side that she is just starting to explore and I look forward to reading more and seeing what she does with it. I also loved that she took a stand against Barrons this time around. I'm hoping in the next book they begin to get even more of a working relationship with each other as I'm actually rooting for the two of them to end up together.I'm also looking forward to learning more about Barrons. In this book we find out more about him and there just seems to be so many secrets revolving around who he really is and just what he's after. He is definitely after the Sinsar Dubh like everyone else but there seems to be something in his past that is very intriguing and that also keeps me turning the pages and looking forward to the next book.As with the first book, Bloodfever also ends on a cliffhanger leaving me desperate to keep reading. The next book is Faefever and I can't wait to get started on it and see where it will take Mac on her journey to find out who she really is as well as seeing how she learns to control the power she obviously has. This is a great series and one that I would absolutely recommend for those who love this kind of fantasy read. Beware though - it is totally addictive reading!

Everyone should read this series!
5 Stars! Question: When you're one of the few people who can do something to fix a problem, just how responsible does that make you for it? Answer: It's how you choose to answer that question that defines you.I really can't understand why I only gave this book 4 stars the last time that I read it. Basically, I think that any book that I feel compelled to read not once, not twice but 3 times (so far) has to deserve 5 stars...it just has to be that way. I first came across this book at a yard sale along with two other books in the series. I paid 25¢ for it and still feel so lucky that I literally stumbled upon them. This series is an excellent example of why I am a reader. This world is real to be. I daydream about Barrons. When I hear songs mentioned in these books, I think about what was happening in the plot at the time. It really does not get much better than this. I'd like to tell you that the monster under the bed is rarely as bad as you fear of it, but in my experience it's almost always worse.Things get even a bit crazier in this book. Mac has had a lot to deal with in such a very short time. She is dealing better with everything she has found out about who and what she is in this installment in the series. She is smart and takes advice when she believes it will help her and really wants to learn. The monsters in this book get scarier and by the end of this book, she encounters some things that are completely frightening but she never gives up. "What are you, Barrons?" "The one who will never let you die, and that's more, Ms. Lane, than anyone in your life has ever been able to say to you. More than anyone else can do."I cannot think of a character in a book that I like more than Barrons. He can be an ass and we really don't know that much about who or what he really is but he is the most appealing man that I have ever encountered on the page of a book. When things need to be done, Barrons is there to do them and he always seems to be in control. He is able to save the day even when things look hopeless. He says things that make me laugh, make me think, and sometimes make me want to think mushy thoughts. Barrons is reason enough to read this series. "One day you may kiss a man you can't breathe without, and find breath is of little consequence."This book has some of the best lines. If you took some of these lines and shared them with others, they would never believe that it comes from a story like this. It's a different kind of book and makes you think at times. I think everyone should read this series. It is really that good. If you haven't read it yet, I urge you to pick up the first book in the series and get started right away.

I will continue reading the series. This book is good
I still think this book needs something, it is good but too much talking and explaining to be a full novel, I was with the mind that it was romance but is not, so not going to find romance in this book, maybe soon-ish?Keep in mind that this is a story told in retrospective in 5 parts as far as i know, its like reading a diary and you just find part of this story at a time, meanwhile it is a good writtsn book, entertainig and if not the best series i've read, it is still good and i will continue reading it. And i do recommend it to celtic paranormal, fae lovers, it is so uniqueC. C.

The 2nd Fever book
This is the second book in the Fever series, if possible I enjoyed this book even more than the first, the world building is incredible you feel absolutely immersed in the lore of the Fae and those that fight them. It is such an intense instalment, I genuinely couldn’t put it down! This book showcases Mac’s struggle with who to trust, if anyone. Her journal, much like her sisters becomes her confidant and is such a clever way for Moning to help the reader understand all the lore and characters so much better without hand feeding us.‘I’d awakened tonight to find myself in the dark. I was tired of being in the dark. I was tired of everyone else having control of the lights.’Mac’s character growth, as she very slightly starts to embrace a darker side is so interesting, I love her character! How she can go through absolute hell and still have these sunshine moments. Adding a much needed element of humour. It’s safe to say I am hooked, and I can’t wait to find out more of the mystery in the next book!I still love Barrons. What is wrong with me? 😂‘Being touched by Jericho Barrons with kindness makes you feel like you must be the most special person in the world. It’s like walking up to the biggest, most savage lion in the jungle, lying down, placing your head it its mouth and, rather than taking your life, it licks you and purrs.’

Addictive Read
I didn't enjoy the first book- but was intrigued enough to follow the story into the second.I'm so glad I did!Everything I found lacking in the first, was present in this installment. This did feel like a filler book for bigger plot lines, but I enjoyed reading through the ground work. The chemistry between Mac and Barrons was much more believable. I think, I might finally on the Mac and Barrons train. There also seems to be some character development for Mac - although she has a long way to go before I stop hoping an Unseelie sucks the life out of her...It ended very similar to the first - but I'm invested now.I would definitely recommend, if like me, you were unsure after the first.

There is something about this series that just kind of drags you in against your will.
There is something about this series that just kind of drags you in against your will. Maybe this is a reaction to reading so much "literary fiction" recently, but I am obsessed with this series. In Bloodfeverwe are, once again, unravelling the mysteries of a fae infested Dublin, with Mac and her hot but mysterious mentor, Barrons. This time (and sort of last time) we're still on the hunt for OOPs, or Objects of Power that once belonged to the fae, as she finds herself surrounded by enemies, both old (some very old) and new). It's such an easy read, and sometimes you need that in your life, and I just want to read the next one ASAP.

Fever book 2
Bloodfever is the second book in Karen Marie Moning's Fever series starring Sidhe-Seer MacKayla Lane. The story picks up right after the ending of Darkfever - Mac is staying with Barrons as she recovers from her injuries and has agreed to help him search for the Sinsar Dubh (an ancient book that is supposed to contain Fae secrets). She now knows who was behind her sister's murder and is determined to track them down and make them pay. With the number of Unseelie Fae on the streets of Dublin increasing daily and the interest she has attracted from the Seelie prince V'lane it isn't going to be easy for Mac to keep her head down and stay out of trouble. Especially when an old enemy comes out of the woodwork looking to get revenge against her. Add in the Sidhe-Seer organisation that want her to join them and things are about to get complicated.I'm making it my mission this year to finally finish reading all those series that I started, bought the whole series after enjoying the first book and then never got around to finishing and the Fever series is first on my list. I really enjoyed the first book when I read it last year and I have no idea why I never got around to finishing it, perhaps afterwards I'll finally get around to trying Karen Marie Moning's Highlander series too!Mac isn't your typical urban fantasy heroine, she is much more girlie than most - she loves to dress up in fun flirty colours and was quite a pool bunny before she left her home in Georgia to track down her sister's killer in Dublin. Having said that she is also smart and stubborn and she is learning to kick ass when she needs to. She may not be the strongest character physically but she has determination and she is able to stand on her own two feet emotionally. I love the fact that Mac still has that flirty side to her but it was nice to see that she has started to grow up too.My favourite thing about this series so far has to be Mac's developing relationship with Barrons. I love the banter between them, every single scene with the two of them in it has me on the edge of my seat waiting to see how things play out. They have such a love / hate relationship right now but I know exactly which way I want to see things go as the series continues. Barrons is a complete mystery man and I'm dying to start uncovering some of his secrets. He can be evasive and often comes across as uncaring and emotionless but every so often you get a glimpse of something more to him and those instances have me hooked. Barrons is definitely the kind of guy that leaves you wanting more. The chemistry between him and Mac is intense and I can't wait to see that spark finally ignite -- I have a feeling that when it does the outcome is going to be an inferno!I'm still curious about the death-by-sex fae prince V'lane too, I wouldn't trust him as far as I can throw him but I don't think he is all bad. I have a feeling that he could end up being someone that Mac has to rely on in the future and it will be interesting to see if he ends up betraying her or if he'll actually be someone she can trust to support her. Bloodfever had a darker story line than Darkfever and I was actually shocked at the things that Mac has to go through so early in the series. It just goes to prove that she is a lot stronger than most people give her credit for though and it made me look at her with a new respect too. These are the kind of books that you want to make sure you have time to devour in one sitting, I found it impossible to put down once I'd started and I'm itching to pick up the next book. Luckily I have the rest of the series sitting on my shelves and I'm determined that it won't be another year before I pick up the next one!
