As an espresso lover who tries to limit my caffeine intake, particularly in the evenings, I've tried many decaf coffee options that left me wanting more. San Francisco Bay Whole Bean Coffee's decaf espresso roast, however, truly satisfies my cravings for a rich, full-flavored decaf espresso. The dark roast beans have delicious notes that come through in the smooth, full-bodied brew. The quality of the beans is evident in the complex, aromatic flavor. Unlike some decaf coffees that taste flat or watery, this one is rich and as you would expect from high quality beans. I find myself wanting a second and third cup, not because I need an extra caffeine boost but because the taste alone gratifies my desire for an exceptional cup of joe. This is hands down the best decaf espresso I've found to satisfy my coffee cravings at any hour. I've bought it over and over in the last few years and it is consistently delicious!

I love this decaf espresso! I’ve been trying to cut back on my caffeine consumption so I typically mix these beans with a regular breakfast blend for my morning Americano and then later a cold brew that I brew at home. It has a robust aroma and flavor that blends perfectly

Coffee and food are difficult to review; what is that old saying? "One man's meat is another man's poison"? Others may like what I don't, and vice versa. This is an outstanding value, and it's okay to taste; I want my flavor to be more subtle. Fortunately, we have some world-class coffee roasters around my area, but you will pay twice as much. It is worth a try for the value; it is a lot of beans, so if you have a small office and want to run an expresso machine without the high price of an artisan roaster, this is for you.

If you love Arabica espresso beans try this brand! I needed to switch to a decaf espresso for health reasons. My aniexty wouldn't allow me to drink my favorite regular espresso. It grinds beautifully. The color is the same color brewed as my caffeine filled espresso beans. The flavor is rich and not bitter. It pretty much matches my other bean in a side by side flavor test. I was amazed! Bonus: this bean isn't chemically processed and uses the Swiss water method. The value for what you pay is worth it! Plus I can add it to my subscription through Amazon. The freshness seems good. It smells amazing but there's no roast date. I'll keep you posted

Full disclosure: I'm a SF Bay Coffee devotee. Over the last 15 years or so, like so many of us, I have experimented with a wide array of coffees, grinders, methods of preparation, and so on. I'm a little bit of a coffee snob: I sometimes use a kitchen scale to measure out my grounds, and I have an entry-level burr grinder that I use. The thing is, many trendy coffees that I've tasted over the years, haven't appealed to me; I really like dark roasts, with smoky flavors. And lots of companies make dark roasts, but they're all very different. That's where SF Bay comes in. Every single coffee I've had from them has been utterly delicious; my current faves are the Espresso Roast and Scandinavian Blend. But the Fog Chaser is also fantastic. For context: my "daily driver" is a classic AeroPress with stainless filter, Capresso burr grinder; I use the inverted method with my press; I use about 20-22 grams of medium-ground coffee and then just fill the rest of the press up with 195 degree, filtered water (although apparently I should be using unfiltered now? I don't know, I don't want to deal with scale and buildup in my kettle). But I've also used these beans for cold brew, French press, and even their K cups are delicious. Lastly, but certainly not least, I appreciate that SF Bay is committed to ethical production; not only partnering with their growers to produce sustainable products and help farmers to thrive, but also minimizing their impact on the local environments. Having some SF Bay in my cupboard is a definite non-negotiable for me.

I am sensitive to caffeine but love lattes, so I searched everywhere for a whole-bean espresso roast with a decaf option. This was one of the only options I found. Originally I thought the taste was too strong and bitter, but I realized it’s just a darker roast than I am used to. I got used to it and now I’m really happy with it.

If you like coffee but it’s just not quite burnt with the taste of cigarettes enough for your liking, then this is your coffee. I bought this to try and save some money on my $15/lb coffee roasted at our local coffee shop. I guess I deserved what I got. I have an Encore grinder and I ground this coffee imposter for espresso. I put it in my Gaggia classic after tamping manually. I care about my coffee. But I can’t drink caf much anymore because it messes me up. So I try to find the nicest decaf I can. A local coffee shop near me carries a pretty nice Peru roast that tastes amazing for decaf. But I thought hey! 2 lbs for 18 bucks?! Maybe it’ll be good. People - the positive reviews on here are from people who have never tasted a halfway decent cup of coffee in their lives. It is TERRIBLE. Tastes burned to a crisp with zero flavor. If you think ‘dark’ means cigarette flavored then you’re right for this roast from San Francisco Bay. I couldn’t finish one cup. And I used to be in the army. I’ve stomached a lot of garbage coffee. My wife thought she could use it for recipes that she needed decaf for - but I told her she doesn’t understand. This coffee would ruin your recipe. I can’t return it because it’s a food product. But if I could I would mark it defective. This product is not coffee. It’s a dark swill meant for those who never had the joy of being served a real mug of java. Move along. This isn’t the coffee you’re looking for.

Quality Decaf coffee is so hard to find. This brand was OK. I gave it a 3 because it was OK. It is fairly acidic and the flavor is decent. Clearly better than Maxwell House/ Folgers, but does not compare to fresh roasted coffee. Starbucks makes a good decaf espresso, but it can be both pricey and rare to find. I was hoping this would bring a good value. It's not much different than what I have bought in the grocery store. I wonder if packaging the beans in a clear plastic bag vs the silver lined bags, other companies use, led to the lack of freshness and quality. That said, I have never tried this compares caffeinated coffee. It may be wonderful.
