Defense in the 21st Century

Easy to follow. Exercises are helpful.

My husband and I are avid duplicate bridge players. Defense is half the game and know that we need to improve in this area. This book contains practical advice with clear explanations. The exercises help to reinforce the lessons. We are already seeing improvements in our scores and we've only gone through about 1/2 of the book.

This book, along with Bidding and Play of the Hand in the 21st Century (collectively the Club, Diamond, and Heart series), is considered by many to be one of the best bridge instructional texts on the market. Direct, to the point and easy to understand. Highly recommended.

Really improved my defense playing.

We’re learning bridge. The key to bridge is in the defense. Start with Grants first book and build upon that. She makes it easy and fun!

We are using this book in a bridge class. The lessons are clear and easy to understand. Good examples!

This the third in a series of bridge books for beginning and intermediate players but could serve as a review for anyone who hasn't played in a while (although defense really hasn't changed anywhere near as much as bidding). I would strongly recommend one starts with Bidding, then Play of the Cards before going on to this volume. The spiral binding and format make it very convenient.

This book is another hit in the Grant, Starzec series. The information is clearly presented with lots of examples and also exceptions to the rule. It includes review topics from Grant and Starzec's first 2 books, "Bidding" and "Play of the Hand".You can read it cover to cover or refer to your specific topic of interest in the table of contents. If you are somewhat new to the game or an advanced player, this book should be in your library.

This is an updated version of the Hearts book in the Better Bridge (now ACBL Bridge) series. It arrived, tough used, in excellent condition.The book has been updated to remain relevant in light of modern developments in tournament Bridge. All of its 400 pages are packed with sound advice, clear examples, and sample deals for bidding and play practice.

Lots of useful information.But I found some conflicting advice. ESP when dealing with leading from a doubleton or a sequence.

This helpful book is s necessity for bridge players.Consider it s must if you want to advance your bridge skills. The delivery time was beyond my expectations.

This is a very good book in the ACBL bridge series if you want to learn more in duplicate bridge. The price was great and the delivery fast.
