(We also have the National Geographic Little Kids First Big Book of Space which is also excellent but the binding is faulty and the pages fall out). We love: - how captivating and awe-inspiring the photographs are - how engaging these books are!!! - information is just right. Not too much. - not overly textbook style or boring - my kids absorb the information and have practically memorized it all because this book is so well done - I learn alongside my kids - My aerospace spouse approves of this as realistically age-appropriate for kids - Though not a hardback, the book is thick and the binding is solid (unlike the problems mentioned in reviews for the National Geographic Little Kids First Big Books) We loved the cover so much that we keep the book displayed on a shelf. We are even using it as decor for a space-themed birthday party. Recommend! Review: Perfect for a 9 year old - Our grandson loves this! It is the perfect combination of information and great photos - exactly what I would expect from National Geographic. Recommended !

Best book! Engages kids. Pictures & content superb!

Bought this for my child and he loved ask the information and full color pictures. Great buy for any child that is into astronomy.

Middle schoolers love it!
Middle school students enjoy reading the book on their own, great images and attention-getting headlines, some info about black holes may be out of date but overall a good resource to add to a classroom or to buy for kids at home.
