So the item is a bit higher than expected, but adequately represented in the description. The image they have shows it standing up in a position, that honestly if the animal even tried to rest their paws on it, would tumble over. The trick is that you must have a counter pressure that negates the positive pressure emitted by the animal in order to function. This isn't always available. For example, it works perfectly fine if placed at the Bottom of the stairs with the wings set against the stairs. But if placed at the top of the stairs where there is no counter pressure, it knocks over without any issues. Secondly, while this was perfectly understandable by the Dogs, it was confusing to the Cats. It took them some time to properly adjust to coming down the stairs and jumping over the rail, despite it's deliberately lower height (which is just above knee height for me). When the Cat's failed to adjust their jump properly, because there was no counter pressure coming down the stairs (only up the stairs) the entire fence collapsed encapsulated them by folding in, and trapped their legs in the fences three panels. They eventually got used to it, but they were not amused the first time the new gate "bit them". I haven't heard a cat cry like that since putting them in a car to go to the vet. We almost returned it at that moment. The only other item I have is that people fall on stairs. It didn't occur to me until after I used this thing that someone falling down the stairs, and landing their neck on the gate would suffer a broken neck at the least. We put up a sign saying "If you are carrying anything, ask someone to remove the fence." While it is effective literally people overestimate their ability to go down the stairs with handfuls of items in their arms. So good for dogs, bad for Cat's and people.

At first it worked great to keep the dogs from accessing rooms we did not want to go through. My older dog (7 years) just turns around. The other dog, a pug of 2 years no he has figured out how to maneuver the gate out of the way. He sticks his snout into the openings and just slides it our of the way. It would have been better if there was more function than form put into the design as a dog can figure out how to move it out of the way. I still think they are better that baby gates but they need better anchoring.

I ordered this wooden gate as I have a small maltipoo puppy. I read the reviews as I wanted to make sure the gate was safe for my puppy & his size. All reviews I read said it would be safe for my puppy & that my puppy would not be able to go through the gate as the holes were too small. The pet gate is nicely made. However, it only took 5 minutes before my puppy got his head stuck in one of the holes of the gate. I would recommend this gate as it is really nicely made & looks good. However, it should not be used for puppies or small dogs.

These shorter, white pet gates are very easy to maneuver and to step over to get into the room. The white with heart cut out is very attractive. I highly recommend if you're looking for a gate that's easy to step offer but would only work if you have very small pets. We have a Yorkshire Terrier and she doesn't even try to go over the gate.

For the price this item is very cute and well made. The only problem is it slides across the tile floor. I had to glue a piece of non slip shelf liner on the bottom and now it is perfect

Works great for my chihuahuas. It’s perfect size to step over without kicking it, and fits standard doorway from kitchen and dining rooms. I like that it’s sturdy, has some weight to it so it won’t fall over easily. Other gates had bars that were spaced wider and my smallest dog walked right through. This has an ornate design that he can’t get through and it looks nice.

The gate came together, so no tools needed. Just unfold and use. Can be folded and stored behind your couch or any where. I leave it up around where the shoes are then when someone knocks at the door I put at the door before answering it. When searching for a gate like this, I never seen one with hearts till found this one. Looks very nice and I couldn't be happier with it.
