Excellent!
This book was well worth the wait! I was concerned at the end of the last Library book, that this series was headed for a formulaic death as other series I’ve read. But Ms. Cogman managed to turn on the creativity here, reintroducing some characters whilst creating a variant of the DeNiro ‘Ronin’ flick. Plus, the slow revelation of the info regarding the dragons was well done and from an interesting source. The development of this series is interesting and well worth the read. The action is taut and, while reminiscent of a mediocre action movie, keeps you engaged. I’m also starting to formulate who would play who in the movie version. Irene would be Caitrona Balfe, Kai would be John Cho (‘Sulu ‘ from Star Trek), Vale possibly Martin Freeman, Tom Huddleston would make a great Silver. I have others, but these are the faces now coming to mind based on Cogman’s character development. Can’t wait for this winter and the next installment!

The sixth book in a great series.
This is book six in the Invisible Library series. I read book five at the end of 2018 and for some reason forgot about the series altogether. Anyway here I am in 2021 picking the series up again and loving it!In The Secret Chapter Irene and Kai are involved in a heist to secure a book for the Library with the assistance of several Fae and another dragon. What could possibly go wrong? The answer - everything.Just as enjoyable as the previous five books, this series is proving to be well written, intriguing and reliable. I love the way Irene, as a mere human, can still win over Fae, Dragons and anything else life throws at her. Mind you it does help to have her own personal dragon available at certain moments, especially for flying out of dangerous situations.I will not leave it as long as last time before I move on to the next book.

Love this series
I am thoroughly enjoying this series surrounding dragons, far and a secret library. The world building is remarkable and the adventure delicious.

Irene & Kai team with both Dragons and Fae to pull off an art heist!
Who doesn't like a heist story? As a Librarian, Irene is frequently called upon to steal specific rare editions of books to take back to the Library.Usually Irene is able to surreptitiously make off with said book and the owner is none the wiser. Not always, though. In the Secret Chapter, the guy who has the book says fine you can have the book you are seeking BUT you have to do a job for me first.A good heist story has a team - different members of the gang bring different skill sets. So, I not only got to see Irene and Kai in action but I got to meet a number of new characters (including characters mentioned in previous books but offstage until now & not necessarily part of the heist crew).I really like the magic system in this series where the Dragons live in high-order worlds & the Fae live in high-chaos worlds. Both can survive with less than high of either order or chaos. These are the more interesting worlds where both can operate, even if not at full comfort.Highly recommended for both alternate history and urban fantasy fans. And, of course, series fans!

I find this series and its recurring characters a delight.
This is the sixth volume in The Invisible Library series. Repeating my comments on earlier installments: I find the series, its recurring characters, and the central conceit of the mysterious Library to be a delight. The books have a light touch that renders most of the threatening moments into entertainment rather than menace, at least for this reader. Book four, The Lost Plot, remains my favorite installment so far(*), but this sixth book was a pleasure.Minor spoilers ahead. This installment is a heist story, and, as has become customary, the fate of worlds hangs in the balance. I was pleased to see Irene's parents make their first appearance, and I came to like the character of Ernst introduced in this book. I hope he recurs. My principal petty gripe is that throughout the series, Irene gets hurt by using the Language in emergencies, but recovers quickly and without significant inconvenience. For me this is beginning to feel perfunctory. But that is minor, and, as per usual, I highly recommend this book.(*) Medium spoiler ahead.... While overall I like the lightness of tone of these books, it was when the fourth book stepped out of that mode toward something with greater heft, with loss, that it captured me entire. I'm seeking out lighter entertainments at the moment, but I am open to a book changing my mind and taking on weight. I've noticed that there are also such moments in Ben Aaronovitch's Rivers of London series, which is generally light in tone. Perhaps I like a little gravity even in my entertainments?About my reviews: I try to review every book I read, including those that I don't end up enjoying. The reviews are not scholarly, but just indicate my reaction as a reader, reading being my addiction. I am miserly with 5-star reviews; 4 stars means I liked a book very much; 3 stars means I liked it; 2 stars means I didn't like it (though often the 2-star books are very popular with other readers and/or are by authors whose other work I've loved).

Great series!
If you want to read this book, my recommendation is to go back and start with The Invisible Library. The entire series is solid, funny, adventurous, and intense, and this is no exception. Eagerly awaiting the Dark Archive, the next in the series, to be released in the US!

Always a joy
I love this author and all of the stories she has to tell. The mystery and thrill of this new tale has me at the edge of my seat when I read it. I admit I haven't finished yet but that it not the fault of the author that is just the crazy times we live in. Can't wait to see Irene win the day. At least, I hope she wins the day.

why?
i have nothing bad to say about the author, store, or book. what i have a problem with, is the changing of publishers. their covers are not the same and book size is not the same. i actually collect books in a private library that my kids read from and my grandkids read from. since two of the books are not the same, i now have to go to another source. i have run across this many times and it saddens me to think you don't care.

Great entry for the series
The Invisible Library books keep getting better, and the stakes keep getting higher. A fun heist story that builds directly off the novel before it.

Heist Story

Cracking
Absolutely loved this book, there seemed to be a much gentler flow to the narrative than the earlier books. Maybe it's the writing or I'm finding it easier to read the style, who knows? I especially loved the new characters, part heist, part Bond movie. Excellent
