I likes the pointing features switch. That's bell and whistler. Works great. I'm artist guy, do a lot of drawing with pencils (most of time). I was using a battery operator with single blade pencil sharpener and took time sharpener as well as wasting battery life. I'm glad brought this unit which has helical blade. That was so fast, very efficient sharpener than single blade. I used a lot of type wooden pencils with charcoal, color, and No. 2 HB. Portable and on to go.Power sources: I usually brought some helical blade pencil sharpeners in the past (was kept in wall outlet but I wishes for battery operator on to go). No problems with other competitor brands. It came with AC adapter which is nice but keep these spare. Batteries that I installed with Ni-MH rechargeable works really well. I also tested a premium quality alkaline batteries. Do not mixed up with old, new, and rechargeable. Always same type, brands, and fresh (same charged capacity). Okay with USB cable but not all battery banks going to work because of circuitry protector built in battery bank and will detects the pencil sharpener to shut down safety (if they thinking short circuit or too high current). It should work 5 volts, 2.1 to 2.4 amps (or higher) but not guaranteed going work with circuit protector built in battery bank, AC adapter, or DC adapter (from car adapter). Use an original AC adapter came within or powered by 4 "AA" batteries.Overall, I will recommends to my friends. Would buy it again... Well done...

I've bought so many cheap pencil sharpeners in my life, I would say I'm never going to break even. Although, this bad boy may help. It's a really nice sharpener.Now you might be asking yourself, "Why is this a really nice sharpener?" Well, I'll tell you.There are multiple ways to power it. You want to put batteries in it? You can do that. You want to plug it into a USB port? Well, you can do that too. Don't like batteries or computers, because they're evil and end up in landfills and are killing your beautiful trees? Well, you can plug it into the wall.So now that your trees are safe, does it really sharpen? Yes, my friend, yes, it does. Every single time I've placed a pencil into this thing, whether it be those number 2 pencils you have to buy your kids by the ton each school year, or be it colored pencils of varying thicknesses; this thing always works. When I first got this thing, I actually hunted down every pencil in my house to try to sharpen them all. It worked every time.When you sharpen a pencil, you know its done because it makes a certain noise. I don't know how to describe this noise. It's just the pencil is now sharpened noise. There are 3 settings to the sharpener that do work. They determine how thick the point will be. The lowest setting allows for more pressure to be used when writing, as opposed to the "highest" setting which makes the tip thin and fragile. I put lowest and highest in quotes because it's not really a low or high affair. You just slide it from left to right to choose one of the three settings. Buy it, you'll see.The little plastic compartment that collects the shavings works, not much to talk about here. Overall, it's awesome because it just works well. It does its job. I love that because so much of what I buy is garbage. I love when stuff works well. This does that.I would give this 6 stars if I could. Cheap and it works perfectly for me. 5 stars.
