Pleased so far, will update as I use it more FR410, heart rate monitor, foot pod
I did quit a bit of research & study to pick the best Garmin FR for my needs. I wanted ease of use, programming workouts, heart rate monitor, and use on a treadmill as a backup. I downloaded the manual and watched all the FR410 vids on the Garmin site while waiting for my watch to arrive. I recommend you do the same, there are a lot of features and circuitous means to utilize the features. The CD included has PDF versions of the manual and quick start manual in English, which is also available to download from the website. How silly to include 10 QS manuals in 10 languages and no user manual in English. Printing is kind of a pain, I recommend printing 4-up but the print then gets small. You can send the PDF to your kindle/reader/ipad etc. if you want to.Opened the package, first thing, got the watch and the charger together, the first charge took a little less than 3 hours. Meanwhile, downloaded the driver for the ANT stick (what's the difference between ANT an bluetooth?) and installed that. Then connected that up to communicate. Fitted the HR strap. (more on that below). Took the watch out under the satellites, connected, did a few set-up steps, connected with the HRM, installed the foot pod onto my left shoe, enabled and paired it, and calibrated it with GPS. The setup, pairing, and calibrating took 10 minutes.Heart rate monitor: I purchased this outfit mainly to track HR for fitness reasons. I do a lot of HIIT and wanted to track HR doing that, running, and swinging kettlebells (KBs) I did use the training>workouts>heartrate option, picking zone 2 (just for the heck of it) and the FR beeped tweedledee for too high and tweedledum for too low- this was while walking/jogging. The volume could be a bit higher, hard to hear with street noise.I tried moistening with saliva, not enough, then water, still would dry and lose electrical contact. I found on the Garmin site, electrode gel is recommended, in my case, I purchased a tube to try out. Spectra 360 Electrode Gel Parker Labs, Each 250GM Tube smaller tubes available, also price out some ultrasound gel, cheaper by the ounce, but sold in huge quantities.Foot pod: synched up fast & easy, calibrated with no trouble. I did walk half a mile on a treadmill, the pod/FR410 said .5 miles, treadmill said 5.08. When using the pod with the FR410 and GPS turned on, I believe the distance is calculated by GPS, but it is nice to know cadence. Garmin Foot Pod [Retail Packaging ]The Garmin site, my profile, charts, analysis, and creating/planning workouts is very easy to use and quite intuitive. I found a friend's bike route on the site, called him and we had a nice chat about it. When trying to figure out the HR lube issue, I went to the Garmin forum > FR410, posted my question, and got a few answers in 5 minutes. (I love geeks!) The forum is a great place for Q&A and checking out workarounds for quirks, bugs, etc.Using the bezel for setting and using the watch is simple and easy to use. Use clean hands.===== In the first 48 hrs, 2 days of use and fiddling, I'm happy so far. Will update when I have something to add. Amazon reduced the price, that was good too! ======My first run in the rain: the rain didn't cause an issue, I did wear the watch under my sleeve most of the time, had to turn the bezel off, because even the slightest bump triggered it. The start/stop button got bumped by the cuff. I'm not sure if just letting it get rained on would have been better. I'm guessing 2-3 inches rain per hour, for a 40 minute run. When I got home, I dried it off, uploaded workout, charged it. No problem.

Great watch. Easy to work around bezel concerns.
Love it.Had it for a week now and taken it on runs almost every day, the longest being for 9 miles. I'll have to update this review in the future if any problems develop, but so far now, it's performed flawlessly. (update) It's been two months, and it still performs very well. Battery life is fine- I usually charge it once or twice a week and run 5 times a week with it. It's only died on me once- during a 15 mile run before which I had not charged the watch for four days. It was my own fault, but I was still amazed it lasted for 12 miles when I started the run with low battery warnings.Since everything's been said about how good everything else is about the watch, in the interest of avoiding repeating other reviews, I'll focus on the touch bezel which was my only real sticking point about whether to order the watch.Yes, the bezel is a pain and it's clunky way to page through screens. However, having read all the reviews ahead of time, I was prepared to make that "sacrifice" for the other features. The best recommendation I can make is to use the bezel to configure your settings before running, then enable the GPS, then page over to the "training" page. Push both buttons simultaneously and the bezel is locked for the run, and you will have no problems with sweat or accidentally pushing buttons. The start/stop and lap/reset are normal buttons, and that's all I use for the run. Not to mention, you can set it ahead of time to automatically page through several displays in slow/med/fast intervals, so all the data you desire will be available for viewing without touching the bezel during the run. The only thing that I found will not work with a locked bezel is the indiglo. Frustrating, but passing under an occasional streetlight worked fine for me.Once the run is stopped, again I had no issues with the bezel other than it being an annoying. Exercise some patience, go take a shower, and when you're dried off, THEN come back and unlock it and fiddle with it. No need to worry about battery drain at that point since the run is done, so with your newly dried fingers you can disable GPS, reset the timer (which saves the data for wireless upload to your computer), and adjust any other settings you need to. Plug it into the charger and let it sit until you run again. So, long story short, love the watch. Bezel is a pain, but it's very easy to work around and lock out so it's a non-issue during the run. A little preparation work while sitting on the couch was all it took, and I'm glad I got the features I wanted.

Awesome!
This is my first GPS watch and I'm very satisfied with it. The setup to connect the heart monitor was kind of weird. It didn't work at first but I read a suggestion that I had to wear it and do some motions to get my heartbeat up. So I jumped up and down to get the heart monitor to connect to the watch. This applies to first time connection only. After that it connects easily. I really like the activity history and most of all the flawless upload by wireless USB connection to Garmin Connect website. The GPS finds the satellites within 20 seconds and way you go for your run. The accuracy is incredible. Truly a remarkable device!

Note finali.
