Speedball 002907 Calligraphy Fountain Pen Gift Set, Black

Excellent pens for calligraphy. I just wish they made a drawing point because that would be a handy art tool.

I collect vintage fountain pens and wanted a calligraphy pen for every-day projects. For the price they are excellent. So far the ink has flowed without stopping, making for smooth pretty strokes. I really like the view window on the side of the pen so you can gage when you're about to run out of ink. I have enjoyed using these pens and plan to order more as gifts.

I use the pens to write with, (Duh...). They are not top-notch fountain pens by any means, but serve my purpose very well. I have zero complaints about them.

Color is exactly as like the photos. Beautiful color. Flows well. Definitely will be buying other Pelikan fountain ink colors in the future.I like to mix various ink colors. Some inks mix better than others. So far, this "T foundation pen Pelikan ink has mixed well with every other ink I've experimented with. A great ink!The only suggestion I have would be a set of smaller sized inks with different colors.Thanks for the great ink!

Easy to get refills.

I bought this pen to use with my watercolor paintings and drawings. The directions were very clear and helpful and the product arrived in a lovely, sturdy box. Try as I may I could not achieve the smooth flow of ink I was looking for.

If you have someone in your life who wants to get into fountain pens, this is a great option as a beginner gift (especially since it comes in a fancy-looking case). If you have someone in your life who is already into fountain pens and you want to get them another, I think they will consider this set lacking. The body of the pens feels cheap, so I doubt this would be a step up for anyone that already is into fountain pens.The red/maroon body isn't very sleek looking but the black body is nice.The ink is usable, but not waterproof. If you are wanting to use this for, say, urban sketching, be aware that this will bleed once you add markers or paint.It doesn't have much control for line variation, like varying width of the line.The pens are comfy to hold, and the nib looks pretty. The pens are not too heavy.I haven't had any issues with clogging, and I like how bold my writing looks when using this.All in all, the nib is built with the good quality I expect from Speedball, but I can't say the same about the body of the pen. Still, these are a great value since you get 2 pens for around $10 at the time of this review. I'm happy with these pens but I'm not blown away by them.
