The Crime of Father Amaro

Another of my favorite Gael Garcia Bernal movies. I wish Firestick films had commentary as DVDs do. "Padre Amaro" is more of a melodrama than a drama, but it has a lot of content about Mexican politics, church politics, and narco influence. The acting is wonderful, especially stars Gael Garcia Bernal and Ana Maria Talancon. Secondary roles also stand out, Angela Aragon as the parish priest's de facto wife, and Luisa Huerta as the religion-obsessed witch.

This is really a great movie. It's well paced, intense, and the dialogue is right on the money. After you watch the movie you start to wonder exactly how does a "man" rationalize his own sins and does that man ever consider how God will view his soul and deeds? The final scene where the young priest is content to let his transgressions be blamed on an innocent is really powerful. This film is at it's best when viewed by a group and then discussed after. A great topic is which priest has the greatest sin the one who aides rebels, the one who accepted blood money to build a hospital, the Bishop who takes money to allow others to cleanse themselves of sins, or the young priest who break his vows of celibacy because he views his job as profession?

This movie is very well portrayed and acted. This is actually really out of control for the Catholic faith. I love my faith, but there are so many children of priests out there from secret relationships. Just google it. I wonder how many were forced to have an abortion. Hmmm....tragic.

Great eye opener for unbelievers within the Catholic church. This movie tells it like it is. It happened many years and it still exists in today's world. No wonder Mexico tried so hard to boycott this production. It's a must have as a testimony tool. I love it!!

Was disappointed...there appeared to be a lot missing from this Dvd...overall it was okay

Wow! Very honest depiction of dark forces at play underneath a virtuous institution. The story is well-written and the acting great.

great movie... saw this when i was in high school, and it makes you realize no one is perfect not even fathers in a church

The plot of this movie is just not in the least surprising from where I see. It is my believe that the most religious you are the more corruptive. Being in a position of power and simultaneously bieing admired, and thrusting is a scary conbination for powerful religious leaders. On the other hand, love Gael Garcia Bernal's performance!

神父といえども人間だ。アメリアのあの顔を見たら惚れてしまうのも無理はない。指導役の神父もまた然り。皆が罪にまみれている。そういう私もまた然りだ。人間の罪を描く見事な映画で、必見。

Me encanté mucho esta preciosa pelicula. Se trata de una cuestion muy polémica es decir la vida sexual de los padres.

of course, i may be biased seeing as the leading actor (who plays father amaro) is the beautiful and talented Gael Garcia Bernal. despite that, this is a powerful and moving story of a handsome young priest who impregnates a sixteen year old girl during their acts of love. with the dark humour and thought provoking ending, this is a must-see-again film. and if thats not enough... watch it just for Gael. it'll leave you breathless

明るい未来をしょっていたはずのガエル君演じるアマロ神父が、 徐々に崩れていく表情とか見てほしいですよ！ほんとに！ メキシコの空の色が日本の空の色よりくっきり鮮やかでした。 建物とか、神父さんの衣装とか。 アメリカやメキシコでは上映禁止を求める声があがったそうです。 確かに、「パッション」並に教会の権威を傷つける映画です。 ただ、日本人の私の注目点としては、欲望におぼれて変わっていく アマロ神父演じる、ガエル君！ですね。 アマロ神父の人間として嫌な部分、汚い部分、許せない部分が徐々に 出てくる演技は見ていて気持ち悪くなるくらいです。 しかし、彼はこういうタブーな映画によく出演するよなぁ。

La pelicula perfecta,audio,imagen..en si pues una buena pelicula en cualquier filmoteca llevaba tiempo tras de ella a un precio decente ha llegado en su paquete impoluto sin embargo la caratula estaba rajada son tan finas que se rompen con el aire,lo demas todo perfecto.
